I just like it. It's very meta, but I don;t think I've ever written about it? I just look forward to sitting down and watching it and being entertained. :)
ETA: Also how's your week been? Mine's just sort of flown and stuff. Get you time to relax?
I'm sure it will be as entertaining as ever (the clip is cute). Maybe I'll wait to hear the reviews and find out just how meta it goes: if they get into proper headtrip territory, I'll be interested. But I saw this pop up, and my immediate thought was 'yeah . . . I'm done here.'
They're all 'La-la-la-la-la-la self-contained one-off thing', but this is Moffat and I'm sure it'll all tie in in some clever way, or be a meta commentary on stuff.
I mean - S3 was sort of the end. They could just have stopped. And then there was Moriarty and madness and I think they're just going to turn everything upside down and play with it. Because they can. Starting with this.

I mean - S3 was sort of the end. They could just have stopped. Was it? I don't remember it well at all.
There was the whole thing with the East Wind and stuff, which Sherlock fans tell me is at the end? Ah, ok. Well, they did seem to be racing through their material (I remember my reaction to Reichenbach is that they had done it too early and it didn't feel properly earned at all).
I suspect I'd find all of this a lot more rewarding if I was into Sherlock Holmes in general. I mean, what I can gather about the details of adaptation sounds very clever, but I'm pretty much just here for these characters.

There is just no time.
I can't remember when, but I posted something about typology (in the context of fic, I think, so in a comment) when talking to flowsoffire and she said she came out as an ISFJ. Which... I can see. She is ridiculously methodical.
On Hannibal this week, he drew two of the show's other characters into a Botticelli painting of Greek mythical figures. Obviously Wikipedia reading and speculation must ensue. This will win over Sherlock Holmes every time, no contest.

Mind you, have been writing my George story (can see the end now!!) and have yet again been wondering about Matt (Alex's other best friend apart from Josh). I think he might be an ISFJ. I've never been able to type him, but I think that could fit. He'd very much the 'straight guy' in the little trio, very concerned about others' welfare, and becomes a doctor. Also that would give me an INTJ, an ESFP and an ISFJ which is a nice mixture, and feels about right.
Fair 'nuff. ;) This show is so pretentious <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I reply to every comment [left in my LJ]. She replies to every post [on her flist]. And then replies to every comment. So yeah. Not arguing with the typing. The mind boggles. It's like a super power.

Mind you, it's kind of hard to search for "Matt" when so many of one's comments involve Matt Smith. Maybe I'll get back to 'Dating' today--I fancy some reading. I'll let you know if anything hits me.
Also that would give me an INTJ, an ESFP and an ISFJ which is a nice mixture, and feels about right. Noticing the balance of types is so important to tying, I think.
This show is so pretentious <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 There are other people on my flist that watch it. It's sort of hilarious to read their comments alongside yours. They... do not quite take to it the same way. ;)
The mind boggles. It's like a super power. I think you're onto something.
I went looking for my previous thoughts on this, and as far as I can tell I didn't have any particularly Yeah, me neither. He's just sort of there, and nice and everything. I've fleshed him out a little more in the George story (he's the moral backbone, quiet, but dependable, the one that stands up for those that are bullied etc.), and in Dating he gets involved in lots of student groups. He becomes a doctor eventually. I went with INFP in that thread, but thinking on it I think he's more Fe - Josh is the one that constantly challenges Alex when necessary, whereas Matt is the peacemaker, who tries to see things from different perspectives. I can see Rory-ness to him, just with a lot more confidence.
Maybe I'll get back to 'Dating' today--I fancy some reading. I'll let you know if anything hits me. Wooo! That would be shiny. :)
Noticing the balance of types is so important to tying, I think. And they're a very good, solid little trio. The balance needs to be right.
There are other people on my flist that watch it. It's sort of hilarious to read their comments alongside yours. They... do not quite take to it the same way. ;) Lmao. Really? I mean, it in no way surprises me that there are people who don't like it. This show is emphatically not for everybody. But I don't know why anybody who didn't love what they're doing would be bothering to watch it at this point.
Yeah, me neither. He's just sort of there, and nice and everything. I've fleshed him out a little more in the George story (he's the moral backbone, quiet, but dependable, the one that stands up for those that are bullied etc.), and in Dating he gets involved in lots of student groups. He becomes a doctor eventually. I don't think I've gotten to anything that does much to highlight him.
I went with INFP in that thread, but thinking on it I think he's more Fe - Josh is the one that constantly challenges Alex when necessary, whereas Matt is the peacemaker, who tries to see things from different perspectives. I can see Rory-ness to him, just with a lot more confidence. That sounds Fe-ish for sure. And I could see how INFPs and ISFJs could have some cross-typing.
Lmao. Really? I mean, it in no way surprises me that there are people who don't like it. This show is emphatically not for everybody. But I don't know why anybody who didn't love what they're doing would be bothering to watch it at this point. The only one I remember for sure is frenchani. As I don't watch it, I'm not sure how her likes/dislikes fit in with yours. But someone - possibly her - was not enamoured of the snails.
I don't think I've gotten to anything that does much to highlight him. Well, there isn't much there... He's sort of just normal, which is a nice contrast for Alex & Josh.
That sounds Fe-ish for sure. And I could see how INFPs and ISFJs could have some cross-typing. Also he... 'drifts away' isn't quite correct, but he realises that what he wants doesn't really overlap much with Alex's world. Their main point of conflict is Matt wanting Alex to use his power for something good, and Alex just backs away (/issues). I wasn't sure if that came from Fi or Fe, but trying to look at him now, I think Fe is a better fit. Also he gets along very well with Allison, but is less confrontational than she is. (Of course, Matt isn't *dating* Alex, so it's not as personal.) Not sure how far you are into Dating, but there are some Fe/Fi conflicts between Alex & Allison which were very interesting to suss out in hindsight.
The only one I remember for sure is frenchani. As I don't watch it, I'm not sure how her likes/dislikes fit in with yours. Hmmmm. I'd say our enthusiasm for the various storylines of the season are at equivalent levels (Hannibal/Bedelia >>>>>> everything else). But what she sees as a mess I see as ~the glorious, baroque flowering of this show's true potential. I think we picked out the same line as the key to it all, actually: 'ethics become aesthetics.' This season has abandoned ethics to fully embrace aesthetics, but YMMV as to the value of doing so.
But someone - possibly her - was not enamoured of the snails. Pffffft. Ignore her, the snails are awesome:
There is also an officially sanctioned hashtag, which is #snailedit (The people who make this show are delightfully ridiculous in social media in inverse proportion to the pretension of the show.)
The snails are possibly a bit of a ridiculous, overburdened metaphor *g* But this is, I would argue part of the charm of the show. I forced Becky to catch up with this season yesterday, and her commentary was 'I never quite know with this show if it's doing something really intelligent that I'm not quite grasping, or if it's just bullshit.'
Yeah, that sounds more ISFJ to me. INFPs are very live and let live: they care passionately about their own things, but those do not need to be your things too as long as you respect them. They'd certainly leave if they perceived someone to be antagonistic to their own values, and they'll drift away just through lives going in separate directions, but they're not ones to feel like they have a right to try to steer other people's lives unless someone specifically asks for their help.
Also he gets along very well with Allison, but is less confrontational than she is. Yeah, INFPs and ENFJs--you see lots of accounts of them loving each other and getting along fabulously, but the one such combo I knew IRL the INFP found the ENFJ to be too much for her? I think it's a matter of all of that primary Feeling: either a glorious confluence of passion and values or a clash of introverted vs. extroverted styles.
I could see ISFJ and ENFJ being a less dramatic, more casually compatible thing? Actually, much like Amy and Rory a lot of the time.
Not sure how far you are into Dating, but there are some Fe/Fi conflicts between Alex & Allison which were very interesting to suss out in hindsight. They're in Texas.

Yeah, that sounds more ISFJ to me. INFPs are very live and let live: they care passionately about their own things, but those do not need to be your things too as long as you respect them. Yeah, also this. Matt is genuinely frustrated that Alex has all this ability and doesn't use it. He doesn't complain a lot, but when he does, that's what he focusses on.
I could see ISFJ and ENFJ being a less dramatic, more casually compatible thing? Actually, much like Amy and Rory a lot of the time. Not that they hang out a lot - but she finds Matt very easy to be around. They're the two normal ones, and she gets his worldview in a way she doesn't Alex's.
They're in Texas. Oooh that far! I was thinking of the time with the paparazzi photographer, when Alex deals with the incident according to his own values and Allison is just left floundering. 'You can't *do* that!' she says, and he's like 'Sure I can'. When I was trying to type enevarim I used that argument as a way to work out whether he was Fe or Fi. Whom did he most agree with? (He falls on Allison's side, most definitely.)
I... don't even know how to feel. I thought I'd seen it all, but. Um. That's a thing. Right. I might be slowly backing away at this point. Lol! *pets* It's honestly not that scary, I swear. The show is just so dark and arty and up its own ass that there is a deep vein of compensatory silliness on the fandom side. It's so charming, I love it. Two other running bits (read all the tags--it's worth it):

I...am speechless. I am super delighted, and yet, I just want more of John and Sherlock in modern day Britain. IDK. Although so much about that was so priceless...
