Looking at it, I posted it on the 3rd of May, 2005. That's very almost 10 years ago. Wow. The ship is Angel/Anya, and I still think it's rather a good pairing!

Many MANY thank yous to whoever nominated it, and to those who voted. I shall spend many days feeling old, but grateful. ♥

Congratulations, darling! Doesn't it warm the ol' cockles to be recognized? Even for the older stuff. Especially for the older stuff, because it means people are still discovering it!

Congrats. Now I just have to figure out how I missed that delightful tidbit the first time around. (It was a lovely little story, great voice for everyone)

Congratulations on The Thing! (Seriously: Congratulations! Well-deserved.)

Congratulations hon, this is quite an achievement - the competition was fierce and first-rate! I haven't read this story yet so this is the great thing about these awards, now it's on my radar when it hadn't been before!

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-11-07 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
And I hope I did not say the wrong thing (or tow?) As far as I've seen all the categories were pretty amazing in terms of nominations. (and the winning artworks and vids I've seen so far are super-fabulous.)

I just realized I don't know who won best meta and that used to be the first category I looked at! That's how slowly I'm going down the list I guess.

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-11-08 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, just ignore my paranoia and astonishing ability to read into things that aren't there. Pretty please.

It's weird how I've gotten swept up in art this year when I used to bang the drum so hard for meta - i have seen some of the videos and based on an awesome Dean/Buffy crossover vid I may decide to watch SPN after all.

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-11-08 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
SPN - that's a commitment and a half!

I don't normally go for male-centric shows but I suffered a season and a half of Copper (short seasons, mind) so how bad can it be right? (Hell, I survived Season 8. Actually I didn't, I just stepped into fandom when the season was imploding and went holy shit, people sat through this for four years? But T-shirt/bumper sticker idea FTW!)

Anyhoo, now that I've seen a couple of really awesome crossover vids thanks to the wicked awards, I wonder if I'd watch and think "but I miss buffy." *lol* It look gorgeous from the clips I saw in the videos though and some of the same themes - the reluctant hero etc.

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
(I have never watched it, but they are very pretty boys.)

Fortunately or unfortunately that's not a selling point with me. *Unless we're talking abot Ewan McGregor, of course.*

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Durn it *LMAO*

Is the guy who plays Sam supposed to be considered handsome? I get that Dean probably is - in a very American square jawed sort of way - but is Sam? I don't know what (straight) women go for.

[identity profile] red-satin-doll.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He's not my type, but I guess he's cute?

Heh, I say that about a lot of actors No surprise, right? *lol*

I'm more interested in the guy on SPN in the trench coat and this is just based on watching three or four spn/btvs crossover vids - I don't know who the heck he is but he looks interesting. Fallen angel? Sort of a Watcher?

And since you are here, can I ask you if you know of any good S6 Buffy vids? One that shows the relentless drag of everyday life, rather than sexy times?

Do you mean besides [livejournal.com profile] nvrbnkisst's brilliant "No Longer Feels Like Home"?

Not really, to be honest, or not specific to Buffy, or to that season. (oddly enough)

"feels like I'm dying" GeeWaylero - Buffy S6 gen, Spuffy, warnings for scenes from Seeing Red (the AR and Tara's death) is more about the tragedies than the monotony

I do recommend [livejournal.com profile] fray_adjacent's Buffy character study vids "Under Stars" and "Deeds that have Made me". even if they are not S6 specific. Under Stars especially gives a feel for the monotony of Buffy's life as a Slayer and it's not shippy although we see a couple of shots of Dawn. I don't think any other fanvidder is better at capturing the sense of "the grind" of Buffy's life,

"oh my god" by thedothatgirl is a VERY good S6 tribute focusing on Buffy, Willow and Spike; you're probably familiar with that one as well:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUfx6K-5xt0

I was going to rec "digging in the dirt" by seriousartistproductions - it starts out S6 gen but turns Spuffy fairly quickly

It's funny though that there are so few vids or stories about Buffy (in any season) dealing specifically with "the relentless drag of everyday life" (which is central to pretty much the entire series) vs "sexyfuntimes" which make up a very small percentage of the show in terms of screen time. But from what I've seen in fandom, the percentages are quite reversed. Perhaps because the majority of fans are more interested in Buffy's men (including non-canon ships i.e. Buffy/Giles) than in the lady herself?

Not that it bothers me
