Oh, but Hulk vs. Loki is VERY good. *has soft spot* Plus, the Avengers has a huge comic book following, so that counts towards it. Ditto Browncoats - they represent, when needed. Mostly, then it's a popularity contest, and depends on which group got the most people organised. It's those specific readers, not the general population.

Keep great sci-fi moments coming, that's what I'd say. :) I only hope more will be created in another ten years.
But another weird thing was that the contest wasn't just about movies and shows, but also about *books*.
In that case, where's Tolkien, and Herbert Wells? They invented the genres, and whatever comes next would struggle to beat War of the Worlds invasion, or Time Machine, or Grey Havens or Mount Doom.
Yeah, if books are allowed in then the whole contest is invalid without those on top. Anyway, it's just a popularity vote, as you said. :)

You're lucky. Joss went South for me starting with Dollhouse, and I miss being obsessed over his shows. I tried to get into Avengers, honestly, but all the movie gave me was the giant headache. Hulk vs Loki was fun though.

I never watched Dollhouse - the [Buffy] comics ruined him for me forever, I'm afraid. Avengers was... fun. Good big blockbustery fun, but the only fannish interest I have is my fondness for Iron Man. (My Joss tag on LJ is now 'Ex-member of the Church of Joss'. I'll never forgive him for the comics - and it's funny how once you look at things with a clear eye, it's obvious that Buffy [the TV show] was the only feminist thing he's ever done.)

It's a lovely scene, but very simple. You don't need to know anything about who they are, you'd still get it. Which might be why people like it? It's very accessible.
