IEEEE. I am half-way there, "being German" in 15/25 steps. (It's eerie, because my father is German-American, on both sides. Looks around, skittishly.)
I died laughing, especially the part about insurance. I must be part German: my floors are always freezing; I have special "house shoes"; I'm a huge planner, even of free time; I have insurance polices for everything. OTOH, I don't eat a lot of meat or drink a lot of beer, and I don't care what kind of car I own, as long as it runs reliably.
Also LOLing about the notes on the English language. I read a book a couple of years ago about how English got the way it did, and that's basically all true (except more as a result of the country being over-run by so many different people... by the time the English got out to 'colonizing' other places, the language was in close to its current form).

And I have slippers too. Would die without them.

Darcy was in Germany a couple of years ago, with - amongst others - a vegetarian. The Germans couldn't get their heads around this. What did he EAT?

Oh yes, it's a wonderfully eclectic mixture.

Fun stuff; thanks as always for sharing. : )

Darcy pointed me towards it as he has a German colleague and this explained so much.
