We just won a gold medal a little while ago! :) Lizzy Yarnold wins Sochi 2014 gold for Great Britain. (Skeleton bob.)

Seeing her wrapped up in a flag made me all nostalgic for 2012 again...

Incidentally, then my introduction to Torville and Dean was the '94 Winter Olymics. The Rhumba specifically:

I'd never heard of them before (didn't grow up in Britain), but the commentators obviously talked about their past. All I knew was that they were CLEARLY THE BEST and that they were ROBBED and should have won gold again.

I remember that Olympics! It was when they let a bunch of pro skaters un-pro and come back to compete and then they all did badly /o\ Torville and Dean were great, though. And they did Bolero in the exhibition in honor of what was going on in Sarajavo at the time and American audiences were treated to a mini-documentary on how they started a fad of "dying" on the ice which the International skating uppity-ups finally had to ban.

I only found out a lot of the details later, but it sparked a love of Torville & Dean that lasts to this day. (To the extent of watching an hour long documentary about the Bolero that could have done with being 45 minutes shorter... Although now I know that the storyline was that they were lovers who couldn't be together and thus climbed a volcano & threw themselves in.)
