Note: This is not the place to post lengthy theories/thoughts/meta/reactions to every beat of the episode. (Please don't bitch - all you would accomplish would be a) to make me sad and b) make me determined to like/defend the thing you bitched about.) This is all about Pond love & saying goodbye to Eleven/hello to 'Twelve'. Basically it's fic, so treat it as such. Meta to come, don't worry. ♥

Credit: The idea for this is stolen wholesale from di_br's unparalleled Tenth Doctor: The Musical:

Ponds Forever #1
He walks through the door - purple coat, bow tie and all.

Amy is with him in a split second, and he hugs her fiercely.

When he finally pulls away, he is blinking away tears.

“Thank you for helping me across.”

She smiles wryly.

“Well, you were taking forever. We had three hundred years of The Extended Adventures of Trenzalore...”

His face lights up.

“Really? You watched it all?” He threads his fingers together, before immediately parting them again to wave his hands around.

“Oooh, did you see the bit where it was Allonah’s birthday and I made fireworks and then some Daleks showed up and-”

Amy pulls a face.

“We... might have nodded off for a few decades here and there. Sorry.”

“Besides,” River steps forward, “That place was terrible for your looks.”

Practically purring, he pulls her into his arms.

“Although I bet you liked all the church going, right?”

She smiles languorously.

“Made me feel right at home...”

[insert extended kissing]

“OK, can we stop now? You - quite literally - have forever to do that!”

“Rory the Roman!” The Doctor lets go of River wraps his arms around Rory.

“Oh, I could have done with you on Trenzalore - someone with experience of waiting around. Although I don’t suppose you ever had a three hundred year long siege to put up with? World history moves a little faster. And less wear and tear - could have done with a Nestene body, this went downhill rather rapidly towards the end.”

Rory pats him awkwardly.

“Shall we actually sit down and have a look at your new face? We paused it and waited for you.”

“Ooooh, yes. I never expected there to be more. I mean, more Doctors after me. This is going to be very exciting.”

He jumps onto the sofa, and nimbly steals the fish fingers and custard. Amy snatches them off him.

“Mitts off. You just had some, we saw you!"

“Fine...”

River settles herself on the Doctor’s other side, with Rory next to Amy. He presses play.

After a minute the Doctor pulls a face, lips pursed and eyebrows furrowed.

"Well - so far I'm not very impressed."

Amy shoots him a droll look.

“Because walking into a tree is so much more dignified.”

A happy chuckle, that ends with the Doctor grasping Amy’s hand.

“Oh, shut up Pond, and pass me the custard.”

And here I'm crying again. I'm going to miss the Ponds so much. I'm going to miss Eleventh SO SO MUCH. We will talk about the episode and everything, but first I have to let go all these things I'm feeling. (I also wrote a fic because of FEELS) I'm curious to see Capaldi, it's just that ... can a haz more Matt Smith? çWç

It's definitely Twelve, because *number Ten* had "vanity issues" and regenerated once without changing his face.

Hahaha, oh this is cute ♥ This is very sweet! All the Ponds time. I love the Doctor thanking Amy for "helping him across"—very fitting. I giggled at his getting so excited about their having watched him, and the hand gestures all over the place ;) All the teasing was also delightful, Amy's with his taking forever and their nodding off at times, River's about his looks and the church, Rory being like "okay, that's enough kissing now". I died a bit at Rory pats him awkwardly. Also giggled at Amy snatching the fish fingers from the Doctor, and pointedly telling him that his beginnings weren't much better than Twelve's ;) Quite right she was… freshly regenerated, they're always a bit weird ;)

All the feelings! :)

It was very therapeutic to write... And I had fun with all those little touches (I had to work something 'awkward' in for Rory!), and am glad you enjoyed them.

Oh dear, the idea of the Ponds actually watching hundreds of years of the Doctor in Christmas... The amount of snark raised must have been quite something.
