Poem: The Song of Song.
THE SONG OF SONG
I.
On a lost world of silent shadows
The tides of history touched the Forest of the Dead
When the Lord of Time met an Impossible Astronaut
(for the first time)
(for the last time)
She was River Song
And he read the weight and shape of their story
In her eyes, her touch, her secrets
her sacrifice
He can never save her, but
He can catch her when she falls
II.
Once upon a time there was a girl,
a miracle (a weapon) woven and given shape
by the dreams of the last TARDIS
and the malice of Silence
She was ancient myth made flesh,
the herald of truth and transformation
when the demons ran
and the Doctor fell
- the day everything changed
III.
A bride, she stood unyielding before her groom
untold lives hanging in the balance
(and found wanting
against the life of the one)
as her love stopped time
But the King conceded and the mountains moved,
and all the worlds were reborn from the touch of her lips
(you may kiss the bride)

I had a huge poetry period as a teen… ;) That's the most original work I ever did actually.

Do you mind if I friend you?

Icons are important. (I have way too many and would love more.)
still, this poem is just so beautiful, and it makes me want to write!
Oooh go for it! I have written many fics. And meta. And ONE poem. ^_^
Do you mind if I friend you?
Please do! I don't post all that much about Doctor Who these days, but the show is forever. <3

I love poetry, and yours is really stunning. I'm pretty in awe of it! I've written a bunch of original poetry, but... man, if I thought I could write a Doctor Who poem anywhere as good as this I'd try. And I'm going to have to poke at your fics! (I've written one Doctor Who fic so far. I'm slacking.)
I just got into Doctor Who a few months ago and I'm obsessed. I started with Eleven... when he pops out of the crashed TARDIS and says, "so is the swimming pool," I knew I'd love the show. And then Eleven was just everything.

Ah yes, I understand. Happy writing!

😭 Like I said - only poem ever written. So thank you so much!!

Look, it's the saying about cakes. And if you are already writing poetry, you are way ahead! Go for it.
And I'm going to have to poke at your fics! (I've written one Doctor Who fic so far. I'm slacking.)
Aw, thank you. I'm also on AO3. *waves vaguely* And there is plenty of time, just let the plot bunnies come to you.
I just got into Doctor Who a few months ago and I'm obsessed.
Omg, so a proper new fan! Yay, congratulations and welcome. The fandom is vast, just find a place you like and settle in. <3

🥳 Here's to starting with Eleven! (I started with the reboot back in 2005, because I was curious.) And although I loved Nine and Ten, Eleven just walked into my heart in a way I didn't know was possible. Truly that episode just *glows*

It is an excellent poem. You should write more of them!
Ooh, I like the cakes thing. Now I'm seriously tempted by Doctor Who poetry. :)
Is your AO3 the same as your user name on Dreamwidth? I noticed your links lead to LJ a lot (the golden days of blogging... I'm not really on there anymore, like my journal still exists, but it's defunct) so I followed one there for one of your fics, but I didn't comment because I don't use it anymore, lol.
I keep trying to find more active DW communities and stuff on Dreamwidth (the DW and DW is getting confusing...) but you're the first person I've really connected with, so that's exciting. <3 (I did go through seasons 1-7 of new Who in about a month... I couldn't stop watching...)
Oh yes, I love that episode. And Matt Smith absolutely killed it. :)
Sorry, I've written you a book. :D

Icons are shiny indeed. I got hooked more than 20 years ago and have never been able to kick the habit... And yes, writing is hard.
Re. the timeline, then there are definitely guides out there.

Do eeet!

You have already found me on AO3, but yes - I'm elisi everywhere except Tumblr (where I am mirrorleaf, because someone else took 'elisi' before me!). And oh LJ. (deep sigh) I was there from 2004 until 2022, only leaving because of Russia's invasion, even though I had been cross-posting for years. It was my first online home. How lovely to come across another expat! <3

It IS confusing! And yes, communities aren't what they were, most of fannish interaction is on Tumblr.
but you're the first person I've really connected with, so that's exciting. <3
Yay, that makes me very happy! 🤗 Welcome, I have
cookiesmeta and fic.(I did go through seasons 1-7 of new Who in about a month... I couldn't stop watching...)
Oh wow, that is. A LOT. I was going to ask how much you'd watched, because I didn't want to accidentally spoil you. Have you ventured further than S7 yet?
Oh yes, I love that episode. And Matt Smith absolutely killed it. :)
he had such big boots to fill (and ye gods, Ten's departure made the whole country cry), but then Eleven was so much FUN and utter delight, and all was well. <3
Sorry, I've written you a book. :D
*waves at entire fannish output* You are in the right place for that!

I've tried Google, but I really need something that shows them in relation to each other (I suspect I have no Google-fu, really) because I found River's timeline, but the whole moving in opposite directions/reverse confuses the hell out of me.
I just sat down and thought about writing a poem and realized I needed a pen and a notebook (I usually write poetry longhand; fic on the computer) and didn't want to get up, so perhaps I will start with fic (likely after I finish writing you another book...)
I long for those halcyon days... but I think I may have abandoned LJ in 2016? Maybe earlier? When Russia took over completely I deleted all my fic because so much of it was slash and hence illegal in Russia.
Ah, I hate Tumblr. I've been on it off and on (and I know a lot of fandom is there but... *waves hands around*) but I don't like the format. Like the way of blogging/reblogging and how it's not like LJ and well, I loved that particular setup (which is why I'm on Dreamwidth).
It's making *me* intensely happy. :)
I skipped Twelve (Capaldi just kept making me go, "but it's not Eleven!" which I know isn't fair, but... also something important to know about me: I am severely arachnophobic and some DW episodes are forever off limits to me because I just can't, so at one point I was going to watch a 4 hour recap of his series' to catch up, then realized it would recap--Kill the Moon? I think--and had to skip that too. And I watched some of Thirteen (I *love* Jodie) but the moment when The Master reveals he destroyed Gallifrey bothered me so much because Day of the Doctor had gone to such lengths to save it! And then I got distracted by Eleven again. Hopefully I'll finish Thirteen someday. (Also, too many arachnids in Fifteen. Ugh.)
His whole intro in The Eleventh Hour was just so much JOY.
Okay, now I've written you two books, lol. I am off to try to force my muse to cooperate in writing fic...

There used to be a great comm for Doctor Who icons, but that might have been on LJ... But yeah, 'I guess I'll just do it myself' is how many people got started on doing something creative. :)

They're roughly back-to-front, but I'll see if I can find a good resource.

Good luck, whatever you end up writing.

Ah yes, there were many issues with good old LJ. I remember strikethrough, which was back in... 2006? (Now I feel old. I first joined in 2004.)

I hear ya. Tumblr is very good at what it does and I hang out there a fair bit, but for anything long form, or proper conversations/discussions it's terrible. Hence still being here.
It's making *me* intensely happy. :)

I skipped Twelve (Capaldi just kept making me go, "but it's not Eleven!" which I know isn't fair, but...
That is always the problem with a new Doctor. And what you like (or dislike) is very subjective, of course. I like Thirteen perfectly well, but her era just has no staying power in my mind, it's like it's made of teflon.
Anyway, re Twelve: He is a slow-burning one, but I couldn't say who is my favourite, Eleven or Twelve. They're like mirror images of each other. Twelve has something about him that is absolutely incredible, but is hard to explain. If I had to choose only 1 season of the show, I would never be able to decide between S5 and S10. The bright beginning and the worn and weathered end [of Moffat's era].
And a little bit of wisdom that has been passed down to me: Watch enough Doctor Who and your favourite character becomes the Doctor and your favourite Doctor becomes the Doctor. (I still have my favourites, but they are all just the Doctor. And this is where Thirteen became an issue - she's lovely, but she felt completely cut off from what came before.)
I am severely arachnophobic and some DW episodes are forever off limits to me because I just can't, so at one point I was going to watch a 4 hour recap of his series' to catch up, then realized it would recap--Kill the Moon? I think--and had to skip that too.
Fair enough. (There is a Thirteen episode with giant spiders and I watched that through my fingers. *shudders*)
but the moment when The Master reveals he destroyed Gallifrey bothered me so much because Day of the Doctor had gone to such lengths to save it!
Yeah. Chibnall has much to answer for. Especially since he just... left it. Ah well. Who knows what the future will bring.
And then I got distracted by Eleven again.
Heh. Always a valid choice.
Hopefully I'll finish Thirteen someday. (Also, too many arachnids in Fifteen. Ugh.)
Good luck with it. And Fourteen is <3 <3 <3
His whole intro in The Eleventh Hour was just so much JOY.
Truly. And coming off Ten who was just ANGST AND GLOOM, it was the most brilliant thing. Oh and you made me go look up something 10littlebullets once said:
^there was also something about Eleven, but my lunchbreak is over...
Okay, now I've written you two books, lol. I am off to try to force my muse to cooperate in writing fic...
Well, I have written you a small novella in return. :)
