Poem: The Song of Song.

THE SONG OF SONG

I.
On a lost world of silent shadows
The tides of history touched the Forest of the Dead
When the Lord of Time met an Impossible Astronaut

(for the first time)
(for the last time)

She was River Song
And he read the weight and shape of their story
In her eyes, her touch, her secrets

                                                her sacrifice

He can never save her, but
He can catch her when she falls

II.
Once upon a time there was a girl,
a miracle (a weapon) woven and given shape
by the dreams of the last TARDIS
and the malice of Silence

She was ancient myth made flesh,
the herald of truth and transformation
when the demons ran
and the Doctor fell
- the day everything changed

III.
A bride, she stood unyielding before her groom
untold lives hanging in the balance

(and found wanting
against the life of the one)

as her love stopped time

But the King conceded and the mountains moved,
and all the worlds were reborn from the touch of her lips

(you may kiss the bride)

Oh gosh, I just stumbled upon this at random—it is GORGEOUS… *speechless*
And you dare imply you're not lyrical??? XD

Yes, it is, and poems aren't easy, so… ;)

This was my labour of love.

I had a huge poetry period as a teen… ;) That's the most original work I ever did actually.

Drawing is excellent =) I did a bit of that too, but just idly copying comics characters… Never really gave it any effort… Should have, but oh well.

*grits teeth* Oh you know how to assuage me…

I love River too! And I'm so inspired by her relationship with Eleven. I keep wanting to write more fic, but then I make a bazillion icons instead... still, this poem is just so beautiful, and it makes me want to write!

Do you mind if I friend you?

Ha, I really need to stop making them for awhile. :) If only so I do write!

I love poetry, and yours is really stunning. I'm pretty in awe of it! I've written a bunch of original poetry, but... man, if I thought I could write a Doctor Who poem anywhere as good as this I'd try. And I'm going to have to poke at your fics! (I've written one Doctor Who fic so far. I'm slacking.)

I just got into Doctor Who a few months ago and I'm obsessed. I started with Eleven... when he pops out of the crashed TARDIS and says, "so is the swimming pool," I knew I'd love the show. And then Eleven was just everything.

The problem, of course, is that icons are so shiny.. And writing is hard! Lol. It doesn't help that a lot of my plot bunnies are Eleven/River and their timelines in relation to each other break my brain...

It is an excellent poem. You should write more of them!

Ooh, I like the cakes thing. Now I'm seriously tempted by Doctor Who poetry. :)

Is your AO3 the same as your user name on Dreamwidth? I noticed your links lead to LJ a lot (the golden days of blogging... I'm not really on there anymore, like my journal still exists, but it's defunct) so I followed one there for one of your fics, but I didn't comment because I don't use it anymore, lol.

I keep trying to find more active DW communities and stuff on Dreamwidth (the DW and DW is getting confusing...) but you're the first person I've really connected with, so that's exciting. <3 (I did go through seasons 1-7 of new Who in about a month... I couldn't stop watching...)

Oh yes, I love that episode. And Matt Smith absolutely killed it. :)

Sorry, I've written you a book. :D

Oh man, the icon thing. XD I got hooked on LJ, and eventually did the "there isn't the *exact* icon I want, let me make my own... which I also did with Doctor Who, because I wanted Eleven icons and I couldn't find any! ...at first anyway.

I've tried Google, but I really need something that shows them in relation to each other (I suspect I have no Google-fu, really) because I found River's timeline, but the whole moving in opposite directions/reverse confuses the hell out of me.

I just sat down and thought about writing a poem and realized I needed a pen and a notebook (I usually write poetry longhand; fic on the computer) and didn't want to get up, so perhaps I will start with fic (likely after I finish writing you another book...)

I long for those halcyon days... but I think I may have abandoned LJ in 2016? Maybe earlier? When Russia took over completely I deleted all my fic because so much of it was slash and hence illegal in Russia.

Ah, I hate Tumblr. I've been on it off and on (and I know a lot of fandom is there but... *waves hands around*) but I don't like the format. Like the way of blogging/reblogging and how it's not like LJ and well, I loved that particular setup (which is why I'm on Dreamwidth).

It's making *me* intensely happy. :)

I skipped Twelve (Capaldi just kept making me go, "but it's not Eleven!" which I know isn't fair, but... also something important to know about me: I am severely arachnophobic and some DW episodes are forever off limits to me because I just can't, so at one point I was going to watch a 4 hour recap of his series' to catch up, then realized it would recap--Kill the Moon? I think--and had to skip that too. And I watched some of Thirteen (I *love* Jodie) but the moment when The Master reveals he destroyed Gallifrey bothered me so much because Day of the Doctor had gone to such lengths to save it! And then I got distracted by Eleven again. Hopefully I'll finish Thirteen someday. (Also, too many arachnids in Fifteen. Ugh.)

His whole intro in The Eleventh Hour was just so much JOY.

Okay, now I've written you two books, lol. I am off to try to force my muse to cooperate in writing fic...
