Another AYW theory!

I have placed this one in The Wish verse.

In OaFA Anya says, "Never make a wish to someone you don't know." In AYW while Buffy and SamSue are walking Buffy says, "I wish things were different." Than they are. Suddenly there's unbelievable demon eggs, and Spike as an international demon dealer with no phone or contact with anyone, not to mention Riley's lame excuse of chasing a "rare, nearly extinct demon" that also reproduces like bunnies. (sorry Anya). WTF? You can't have it both ways.

Yup AYW was nothing but a plot by Riley to put vengence on Buffy and Spike. Spike for telling Buffy about him and vamp hos, Buffy for making him leave town.

He had that scar on his eye (just like EVIL Warren, which had to mean something) And he holds Buffy and Spike responsible.

Yup that's it.

Oh and AOQ reviewed 'Into The Woods' yesterday. His thoughts were interesting - he never liked Riley, but thought that his reasons for leaving were sound and well done.

I'm in the process of writing a fic that contains all of the above plot points except the wish. What I wish is that I'd written faster, dang it!

That's an interesting catch. *thinks* I do wonder if that was a door for a plotline later like the Cecily thing or nothing at all. We'll probably never know. :(

Hmmm I doubt it, since it was very much a one-off. As far as I know the Riley arch was supposed to have been longer though, so who knows. Maybe it would have been better like that - as in made more sense? On the other hand, this way I only have one episode to avoid!

I'd never heard about the Riley arc. TBH, I kind of doubt it that late in the season...

Yeah, it was probably a one off. I doubt it was the first time one of the character said 'wish'.

I have no idea wher I read it, but I'm sure they intended to do more with him. Ah well, can't say I mind his stay being short and brief.
