Fluff from my cold-addled brain
I've finally managed to get the cold that's plagued my poor husband for more than a week, so if I'm not entirely coherent, bear with me.
Saw Dido's video for her new single 'White Flag' the other day, and thought to myself - hold on, that guy looks like David Boreanaz! See - I can easily distinguish between an actor and a character! To be fair, it was easy, since Angel would NEVER EVER (not even when he lived in a dumpster) wear a flat cap (it would ruin the hair for a start). Nice video btw - the song's ok too I guess, but I can't say I really noticed - DB stole all my attention!
Now the chorus goes something like this: 'I will go down with this ship/I won't put up my hands and surrender/there will be no white flag above my door/I'm in love, and always will be.' The next time I came across the video, my husband happened to be in the room, and since I turned the volume up, he noticed and listened. When it had finished he said something like: "Nice song. I liked the nautical references" which completely threw me for a moment - 'nautical'??? After rummaging about in the dusty cupboard in my head, I made the connection: ship = boat! So I made some appropriate comment whilst thinking that Buffy-isms have invaded my brain more than I realized!
Speaking of Buffy-isms, you should have seen dear husbands face when I (some months ago now, before the end of Angel aired and I had run out of the room to avoid a spoiler-filled ad) explained that I had left because I was 'completely unspoiled'! It took a good while for him to stop laughing sufficiently for me to explain the meaning of that phrase in Buffydom.
That's all for now, I might check in later if I haven't fallen asleep (actually, with two small children, that is extremely unlikely).

I like Dido too, but have ODed on "White Flag" (see my earlier LJ entry where I complain about radio stations). Both Claudia and I got a kick out of the "completely unspoiled" scene, but I didn't get the "Ship/boat" part until Claudia (who was reading this over my shoulder as you might guess) took note of it.
