Good things that I wanted to share. (Spoilers for the DW S6 finale!)

My own personal summary: Fuck Yeah, River Song! Anyone who had a problem with her in the finale should watch this. Anyone who LOVED her in the finale should watch this. Really, everyone should watch it, because she's the goddamn River Song.
Fic:
This fic! The title is spoilery for a promo picture/funny visual joke from the finale, but other than that it's not spoilery AT ALL.
Summary: River leaves the Doctor a gift to keep him busy until he sees her again. You should read it because it made me laugh so hard I could barely breathe. And that scene will never be the same again.
Fanart:
Comealonglestrange on Tumblr made fanart based on my meta. It is v. gorgeous and I am unbelievably flattered. *hides*

10littlebullets. This was written in response to my big essay, and is brilliant. Have pulled out the two main things and put them under a cut here.

The part that's possibly the best description of anything ever:
- RIVER RIVER RIVER RIVER is like all the most gloriously fucked-up and compelling parts of New Who, only with the author acknowledging that they are insane and fucked-up. River/Eleven is like getting canon Doctor/Master, and canon Ten/Rose presented as "delightful and unhealthy" rather than "ISN'T THEIR TWU WUV PERFECT," wrapped up in Timelord Victorious wrapping paper, with a side helping of "seriously, I love you and it's kind of sweet that you're ready to tear the universe apart, but it's also really scary and would you please just stop now and possibly grow up a little." And a pony. On Christmas. Which is also your birthday, because River made everything go wibbly-wobbly. And the pony breathes fire and can turn into a Batmobile.
The part that made me go all hollow with the beauty of it all:
Doctor/River on the other hand [as opposed to Doctor/Master]... of course it's not a one-to-one mirroring, that would be boring, but it's not opposition so much as complements. Each of them will reflect the other in the way that's most needed at the time, sometimes by drawing unexpected similarities and sometimes by contrasts. Likewise their timelines aren't strictly front-to-back, but that's the general direction: just like in a mirror, left is right and right is left, and River marries the Doctor when she's everything he used to be and the Doctor first meets River when he's becoming everything she's long since learned not to be. And the truly remarkable thing about that is that Eleven, who's arguably the most self-hating of all the Doctors and who's spent the past couple seasons discovering he has more baggage from Ten than he thought... Eleven, in the very episode that's about killing off the Lonely God once and for all, Eleven meets River when she is Waters of Mars Ten. He's just decided to lay this part of himself to rest, and there's the Dream Lord and the Timelord Victorious standing right in front of him--and he doesn't run away, or shove her in a cupboard, or try to kill her, or "give her a choice" to make himself feel better about killing her... he marries her. He loves her and accepts her and that's how he gets her to stop. And that is brilliant on Moffat's part, because IMO so much of Ten's dysfunctional behavior in s4 and the specials came from being unable to reconcile his conception of himself as a good man with the fact that he ended the Time War in a double genocide. We see him trying to justify himself, over and over, often with a horrific cost, and while End of Time gives him closure on the specific trauma of the Time War, we still see that Eleven can only deal with his dark side by making it a separate entity and locking it away. So to have him accept and love and reintegrate that part of himself in the form of River, his mirror... Moffat. Moffat. ♥
