Had a lovely time in London. Although have a life is very tiring (and my feet hurt). Now I have until 5pm to make the house look nice, since my parents will be arriving around then. So I'll do my very best to skim my flist and reply to comments, but don't expect to see much of me the next week.

But to leave you with a question: Is it ever proven that it was The First Evil that brought Angel back, or does it just take the credit?

Glad you had a good time in London. Sorry we couldn't meet up but J's postpned birthday got in the way! Have a great time with your parents, and I have no clue as to the answer to your question. I think there are probably more interesting possibilities if it was the First Evil than if it wasn't though.

About your question, according to my memory, in the episode Amends (BtVS Season 3), The First, looking like Jenny Calendar, told Angel he had broght him from the Hell because Angel was important to his plans. Or something like that. Now I don't know if it was really true or if The First was bluffing.

As my theory is that The FE is only the reflection of the characters' inner fears and demons, I'll say no it didn't bring Angel back.

I've always thought that it was Buffy herself who called Angel back when she symbolically put the ring on the floor, releasing him from her subconscious.

I don't think it was ever established just how Angel came back, but I think it would be interesting to speculate that the Senior Partners did it. Seeing as how they have their hands claws in so many dimensions, surely they would have the ability to bring Angel back once they knew about the whole prophecy thing.

I don't know. The PTB has always struck me as council of sorts, maybe comprising different 'beings', each with different agendas. None of their intentions really seem to be all that benevolent, honestly, and it kind of makes you wonder if they're really the good guys or just powerful entities that like to manipulate people.
