SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Today is a day of squeeeeeeeeee!

Just found out that a RL friend is a fellow Buffy fan! ::ginormous grin::

We were walking home after taking children to school, talking about movies, and she confessed to having all three Matrix films (“It’s a set - I have to have all of them if it’s a set!” Perfect reasoning.) Then she continued with:

“I also have ‘Blade’ - all 3 of them. He’s a vampire hunter....”
Me: “Oh I like Buffy, you don’t have to explain.”
Her: “I like Buffy too!” [conspiratorial look] “But we don’t tell anyone that...”

She even got cable just so she could watch it (and AtS of course) on Sky One when they were first showing. And keeps being pulled in by the re-runs...

I feel like doing somersaults or something, I'm so bouncy! She's not got the DVDs ("I'm not that bad..." she said, when I confessed to having all of them, except S3 and 4. *g*), and she's not aware of fandom, but give it time... Mwahahahahaha!

Told her she absolutely had to come round sometime - we could watch Buffy and be sad together. She found this a very good idea. :)

I *have* to go now (so much work to get done) and my internet is being a bit very wonky (ETA: grumble, grumble, grumble... I wrote this post at 9.30 am! If I ever mange to post it don't expect replies anytime soon.), but... OMG RL Buffy fan friend! ::does the Numfar dance of Joy::

Very pleased for you. I'm sure if she comes round and watches it with you, she'll realise she has to have the DVDs after all (you can get them a lot cheaper now, or at least some of them).

Yay ::squees with you:: That's so exciting :) :)
Yes bring her into fandom, the more the merrier :)
::hugs::

It's the best feeling when you discover other Buffy fans!! ::gigglesnort:: And you can never quite pick them either, they come in all shapes and sizes.

One of my closest friends is a 30 year old environmentalist and he breathes Buffy. The father figure in my life, a 60 year Canadian lawyer, is also a complete addict and then there is the long-time friend of our family, a 50 year old Iranian woman whose 17 year old daughter is as obsessed as she is! Go figure?! Heh.

I know what you mean. I don't have any RL friends around where I live who are BtVS/AtS watchers. They all live down south.

Yay! Reeeeeeel her in!

I just got an e-mail yesterday from a real-life friend in another state, whom I hadn't heard from in months. I had told her about my blog around Thanksgiving and I knew she'd read a couple of entries at least. But not a peep from her--and I was beginning to think that, even though she's one of the people who originally talked me into watching Buffy, the fanfiction might have scared her off. (A bit more conservative/less extroverted than me.)

So yesterday she told me that she'd been lurking and reading all my stuff, and friends' stuff, and following links to awards etc., and isn't there a lot of great fiction out there! Hee!

Resistance is futile! They will ALL be assimilated!

Good for you! Now ease her into fandom slooooowly. If you just throw open the door, sudden like, she may take for the hills.

Says the girl for whom slash, kink, non-con, rpf, rps, OTP and GIP are ::yawn:: oh so common)

Yaya fun!

I have lots of RL Buffy friends but sometimes it can be a tricky thing because if I go off *too* much about the fandom bit they give me the strange eyeball or whatever. 'Cause it's rather like a leaky faucet or something that I can't turn off, except not at all since it gushes. Oh dear, not enough sleep really impairs my metaphor-making abilities. *g*

And I hope you get lots of sleep. :)

Hee. Thanks, but it's rather unlikely because I'm at [livejournal.com profile] kittyzams's
house for the next four days and all we seem to be able to do is watch TV, gab incessantly, eat, watch fanvids, watch TV, natter on, smoke and drink, watch TV, and TALK OUR SILLY HEADS OFF. *g*

Of course, she's asleep right now, hence the me-on-LJ-ness.
