A lotta rec

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but didn't have the time during the Christmas holidays. Basically I just want to rec some fics/essays/other stuff I've been enjoying lately.

I know I'm late with this rec, since the last part is being posted today, but I just want to make sure that no-one on my flist is missing out on 12 Days Spillyria. Illyria takes Spike on a journey through Christmasses past and present following 'The 12 days of Christmas' to try to understand the meaning of it. Funny, intelligent, angsty and insightful it's been consistently excellent. Written by [livejournal.com profile] bogwitch, [livejournal.com profile] calove and [livejournal.com profile] hesadevil.

I thoroughly enjoyed [livejournal.com profile] kallysten's 2005 drabbles by 2005, and I wanted to point out some of my favourites. Not that I've read them all (not even near!) but these stood out from my casual browsing:

[livejournal.com profile] pfeifferpack - W/T, Chosen.

[livejournal.com profile] liliaeth and [livejournal.com profile] zilly14 - Buffy and Angel during Chosen, Joyce's thoughts on meeting Spike.

[livejournal.com profile] irishrose1 - The Troika discover something.

shiveta - Buffy smiles, Chosen.

[livejournal.com profile] speakr2costomrs - 1943, Spike and Angel on the sub.

[livejournal.com profile] ladycat713 - Angel dies and The Powers are trying to decide what to do with him.

I updated my fic-rec post (more or less). It can be found here. Not by any means exhaustive, but just my all time favourites.

ETA: Essay! So sorry I forgot! This is by [livejournal.com profile] thedeadlyhook who's very, very clever and has written one of the most intelligent and insightful essays I've ever read: Christian Metaphors in the Buffyverse... and Other Deep Thoughts About What It All Means

Now I don't know if it's common to rec wallpapers, but these two are so gorgeous, that I want to tell people about them. They're made by [livejournal.com profile] buttersideup and can be found here and here. Make sure to tell her how talented she is!

---------------

And now for something completely different! I've been thinking whether I should write about this all day, but in the end, I want to say something.

I got a visit from the anonymous lj-etiquette-'fairy' this morning. Apparently I've been doing a lot of self-pimping when I comment and this is bad LJ-manners. If I have offended anyone or appeared self-involved I apologise profusely. I guess I'm just exited and pleased that people seem to find my thoughts interesting. At least I'm not alone, since I have heard other people tell of similar visits, being told where they've 'gone wrong'. But....

What I'd like to know is - does this person have their own LJ? If not, then (s)he has no right to tell people how to behave. If (s)he does then why post anonymously? If (s)he's simply pointing out common rules, why not do so openly? At least I'm fairly certain that it's not someone on my flist - I believe that if anyone has any problem with me at all, that they'll tell me straight!

(Turning off comments, because I don't want people to argue. Just go enjoy the nice recs!)

ETA: Ok, I changed my mind. Will be screening comments instead. I'm just baffled by this and curious as to what you think...
