Christmas post. (You know - stuff.)

Have had a very nice Christmas indeed! Did our usual thing of having a Scandinavian Christmas Eve celebration (where the kids got presents from Darcy and myself and my side of the family - this year their main present was a Wii, and they were suitably impressed!), and then going round to the in-laws Christmas Day (cue more presents). Oh and the children also got stockings in the morning, obviously. We find that this dividing of loot works quite well. :)

Anyway, had a lovely time w. family (I have the best in-laws in the world), and - amongst other things - got 'The Shack' from my father-in-law (he knows that I too love reading). I'd heard of it - it's one of those life-altering, faith-enhancing books that is now a bestseller because everyone who reads it goes out and buys copies for everyone they know! (I'll let you know if the hype is justified once I've read it.) The reason I'm mentioning it though, is because my f-i-l winked at me, and told me that once I'd finished it I should go online and see what all the fundamentalist Evangelicals were saying about it... (We be Cath'lics, aye. Faithful, practicing, and rather down-to-earth! *g* No offence intended to any Evangelicals who might read this - I am well aware that there are plenty of Catholic nutjobs out there.)

We watched Doctor Who and Wallace and Gromit (of course), but before that we were treated to 'Mamma Mia' (which younger s-i-l had been given). Now it wasn't as terrible as Herbie: Fully Loaded (that I caught parts of last week!), but nothing - and I repeat nothing - can forgive those dungarees! Or so I thought until this scene appeared... It starts as just another fun & flirty beach scene, but then develops into one of the most awesome things I have ever seen times Eleventy - ENJOY!

(It also helps that the kids can actually sing... *pets Pierce Brosnan* Actually all the scenes with him, Colin Firth and Stellan SkarsgÄrd were brilliant. You know, the whole thing reminded me of John Barrowman - it had that same cheesy, over-the-top, feel-good quality.)
