Me too! I had cats all through my childhood, but what with marriage and children and moving around, it's not been possible after I moved out from my parents - until now! :)
He's gorgeous. I had a black cat, a Siamese mix with green eyes. I lost him four years ago last November. I had him for seventeen and a half years and I still miss him. I've got a thing for black cats.
I used to have a black cat - I got him when I was about 11 and he looked exactly like Spike here, only he wasn't as friendly. Sadly he disappeared a few years later. (Then I got Odysseus who was adorable, but that I had to leave with my parents when I moved out. He was run over a few years ago... Hopefully Spike will be luckier!)
I had bad luck with all my outdoor kitties too. One was hit my a car, a couple disappeared and one was very badly beaten up on Christmas Eve believe it or not. Now I live in an apartment, so for the past twenty-one years or so, all my kitties have been indoor kitties out of necessity. There are some pros and cons in this situation as well.
That's a handsome cat, elisi. His coat looks very sheen and silky--very soothing to pet. My cat looks very similar, except for being a girl and 100% grey, of course.
What a big, beautiful boy he is! Just looking at the picture makes me wish I could give him a hug and a pet. And it looks like he's already started taking over the house. :)
Oh, he's taking over alright! :) And the children adore him - only they can't understand why he hides after they've played with him for 2 hours straight! ;)
Around one year old - we're not sure because he was abandoned and one of my husband's co-worker's sister took him in. But he's very friendly, so was obviously brought up around humans.
I like that - I had sort of settled on Spike (or Buffy, depending on sex) beforehand - especially since the children have a fondness for names such as 'Sparkle' and 'Petal'!
Oh! Spike kitty! He's lovely. :) I owe you e-mails, but am struggling to squeeze in any time online at all at the moment. But thank you *so* much for the wonderful book - it has been keeping me entertained for hours. :)
And don't worry about e-mails - I'm not going anywhere! And I'm so glad that you liked the book (as I said in the card, I couldn't imagine any reasons why you wouldn't) - we have one ourselves, and it's just so wonderful and intriguing!
