Buffy 8.9
I liked the pruning shears. I don't know if they were deliberate, but they raised a smile.
Faith's 'Maybe I can help other Slayers' made me roll my eyes, since how on earth could it have taken 18 months for this thought to occur? It's a fanfic staple if ever there was one.
Apparently Buffy & Giles weren't on good terms, and are now not speaking. (Hated 'You're working with *her*', which again brings up the unexplained Faith/Buffy uber-hostility, which *wasn't* just because of the sudden attack (S7 clearly didn't happen), and disliked Buffy's acceptance of Giles' 'I don't want you to be part of this' too. Meh. Where did my Buffy go - the one who gives the orders?) Anyway, can't say that I actually care at this point. But - I'm sure it'll be explained. *nods sagely*
And finally, this: 'It was about manipulating our enemies into fighting this ugly war for us, a tactic crucial for brining the age of magic to a close. By pitting watcher against warlock and slayer against slayer, we have pushed even the 'victors' to remove themselves from the chessboard.
Just made me go 'What did I say?' OK, so it would appear that Mr Masked Twilight isn't W&H, but apart from that I totally called this. And I'm willing to lay bets that he might also be Buffy's 'anonymous benefactor'.
I'm sad Faith killed Gigi, but at least the Faith/Giles 'shippers should be happy.
ETA: A prayer: Dear Illyria, please make Drew Goddard's arc be good?
ETA2: This:
Xander: Maybe the Boss just needs some alone time?
Buffy: What other kind is there?
I'm ever so sorry, but Buffy-the-lonely-boss was like the MAIN, over-arching theme of S7. Please sing me a new one. (Again - I think in the s8 'verse, S7 consisted of 'Lessons' and 'Chosen'.)
