Stopping by briefly, since the reason I've been even more absent than usual is that our internet died for more than 24 hours! Woe. But being in lurker mode anyway is a good thing, since I was annoyed but not crushed. *g* Catch-up is awkward, but I think I've just about read all that I missed. Many hugs to all those of you living with misery - there seems to be a lot of you at the moment!

Since I'm here, but don't have time to cheer you all individually, I thought I'd relate a few tales of Darcy's parenting:

According to Darcy there is an Evil Toothfairy. She collects teeth just like the good one, but instead of leaving money, she takes the tooth and puts it in her mouth. Her mouth is HUUUGE and has millions of teeth in it, making her a hideous sight. And if a child wakes up when she collects their tooth, she bites their head off! (Little Miss M lost a front tooth just the other day btw, and the other one has almost gone...)

A few days ago he was playing with the baby and I suggested singing 'Old MacDonald' to her (using the lovely hand puppet the_royal_anna sent). He thought this was a good idea, and so began:
"Old MacDonald had an industrial agricultural concern, E I E I O..."
I don't remember it all, but there was a verse about him having problems with French farmers, and one where he couldn't survive on government subsidies. In the end he set up a small organic health food business.

Sometimes I love him too much for words! :)

Today is indeed a wonderous day, because Spring Summers has started doing analysis of S6! ::dances:: You can find it here. Click on 'Spikecentricity'. As an appetiser, here is the first paragraph:

This episode starts off with running feet, as Spike, followed by Tara, and then Giles, chase a vampire. Spike has the first line:

“I’m never gonna kill anything with you lot holding me back.”

Tara and Giles are, it seems to me, our representatives of morality and adult responsibility. And they just hold Spike back. How can he accomplish anything if they’re going to tag along? Well – Spike’s in luck. Because this Season, Giles at least, will be taking a powder, and Spike will be able to catch his prey much more speedily.

Also I've been forgetting this, but tis_nat made a beautiful Spuffy calender for 2006. Have a look - it is SOOOO pretty! *sigh*

And I'll try to post my next S/D story tonight, but I'm not sure I'll have the time. But tomorrow at the latest!

I seem to have acquired quite a few new friends recently, so I thought I'd take a moment to say hello and welcome! Dark and cliff-hangery fic is sparse on a day-to-day basis I'm afraid, so instead I will try to point you toward various goodies that I have come across recently:

First a ficlet from spuffyduds: Time is the Fire in Which We Burn. Set sometime before Drusilla meets William, this is a fabulous, amazing little gem! (I'm always hugely impressed with people who can write Dru.)

eyesthatslay has just posted a batch of 'House' icons. Wonderful (as usual).

Also: Scooby Road. Need I say more?

For those of you with iconing skills, this might be of interest: get_a_cape: 'Icon Challenge for Underappreciated Characters of the Jossverse'

And for writers, here's something brilliant: banner_grab. It's a place where authors who've always wanted banners for their work can go and make a request.

On the fic front, I don't really have anything happening at the moment except my Christmas fic, the third (and last) part of which gets done line by line when I have some spare time. Oh - but I *have* written some more Spike/Dawn (that I intend to post sometime next week). For new friends, these are my very private little stories that I still can't really believe that I'm writing, and that are therefore filtered to stop half my flist from being squicked out. (In case you're interested it's set in an AU where Buffy wasn't resurrected. Beautiful, but disturbing. And my only attempt at NC-17. If you want to be added, please let me know. /end gratuitous self-pimp.)
ETA: I should probably add that I'm a Spuffy girl through and through. I just got saddled with a kink...

I'm tired. And sleepy. And my house is a mess. But 'Broken News' is just so darn funny! As is this - it made me actually snort! Oh and b-i-l's homemade Merlot ain't half-bad either. And I wrote some more Spawn... so, in a word, life is... changeable! ::yawn::

And lastly I have to rec a vid. spikeylover has been on my flist for ages, but somehow I never got round to watching any of her vids. (Also I didn't know where to start. Heh.) Anyway, she pointed out this one the other day as she was doing a Spike/Dru post and I downloaded. And oh how I loved it! Spike/Dru is such a wonderful ship, especially with Angelus/Darla added - not to mention Angel/Dru... the song is also gorgeous beyond belief and my new favourite! :) So - without further wafflig - just click here: Ghost of a Rose.

So this morning I was reading an interview with Johnny Depp in The Sunday Times' Culture magazine. This was the first sentence:
If you happened to have Johnny Depp standing naked in front of you,
which made my mind glaze over completely, leaving only the thought that 'Now this is my kind of article!'
Sadly the follow-up wasn't what I hoped, but it was a good interview nevertheless. You can find it here if you're curious - I'll only quote my other favourite bit:
At first, however, top Disney executives were horrified by his portrayal [of Captain Jack Sparrow].
“Disney gave me such a hullabaloo about what I was doing with the character, the teeth, all the beads hanging and the dreadlocks,” recalls Depp, who had partly based his characterisation on the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards. “I would get these phone calls from upper echelons, team Disney, and it would be like, ‘Okay, okay, what are you doing with your hands? Is he drunk? Is he gay? Bless him.”
