Heck even the Alliance at the end of S5 did that. (As Moffat once said - the Doctor is, essentially, an unarmed man who can't drive. *g*)
True. That's why he should be babysitted one way or another *grins*.

I'm hesitant to delve too deeply in, until we have more to go on, to be honest. But the thing about being an unwitting weapon/tool is that she doesn't really know her own power, like River did. So whereas River could always look after herself, Clara strikes me as much more vulnerable.
It is mainly kooky theory on my part... I don't know how to deal with DW theories. People who introduced it to me have been presenting it as complicated, yet so far Moffat seems extremely careful to give clues, lots of them, that enable the audience to guess the outcome... And the hints we have strongly point at her being a thing.

I have every confidence in Moffat. Esp considering that Claras names are so odd.
