So, some months ago we got Netflix. When looking through what was available, I noticed Avatar, and - knowing that a portion of my flist adored it - I suggested we watch some of it one night, when Impish Girl had a friend sleeping over and they couldn't make up their mind.

Cue all three of my girls falling for it head-over-heels (the Cherub named a cat-puppet she got for Christmas 'Miyuki' for example) and marathonning the whole thing in a few weeks (possibly less), a pace I couldn't keep up with at all. The upshoot of this is that I keep catching episodes out of order, so I like the show very much, I just need to catch up on all the stuff I've missed. Which I'm sure I eventually will. But I've yet to see the ending, so don't spoil me. I just wanted to say that I *quite* understand what all the fuss is about (even Darcy enjoys it hugely and admires its scope, and he turns his nose up at 99% of stuff).

Plus, Avatar Kyoshi is just plain awesome. <3

Oh yeah- Avatar is definitely one of those cartoon shows that I found incredibly easy to marathon through because it was just so much fun. :D (I really need to watch it again some time).

Watched the first episode of The Wire, and - despite its obvious brilliance - it just isn't for me.

And I get your distinction. A:tLA is something that's always entertaining and charming and surprisingly rich. <3

Huh. I didn't find The Wire obviously brilliant in the first ep. It took me three seasons. That said, I've definitely met plenty of people who don't find it to be their cuppa.

(I told the girls about the Legends of Korra btw. They went 'MOAR AVATAR OMG!' Hunted it down on youtube or somewhere, watched the first episode, realised that everyone they knew was either dead or old and consequently backed away at lightspeed...)

Oh and I'll be unavailable until Monday. Just thought I'd make you aware so you didn't think I'd fallen off the face of the earth...

Yeah, it was a very different show (though it is quite generous with the cookies for A:TLA fans). But a lot of people who were really passionate about the original found Korra to be a let-down. And its focus definitely shifts up an age bracket. So, yeah, not too surprising.

Though I've got a vid about Toph and Lin Bei Fong pwning everything, if anyone's interested.

Oh and I'll be unavailable until Monday. Just thought I'd make you aware so you didn't think I'd fallen off the face of the earth...

BEST SHOW EVAR! :D That's all I will say until I know you've seen every last episode. I've watched it twice all the way through and just adore it. Wish they would give it the blu-ray special edition treatment, the geek in my wants to own the preciouses....

Korra is always awesome, hoping they put up Season 1 once the DVD is out.

I found out about it because of Livejournal too :-) I have my three person rule and three of the people I follow on LJ were raving about it, so I had to watch. It's a perfect breakfast show, btw, which is how I watched it the first time - eating a bowl of cereal and watching ATLA before work. :) Probably also good with dessert ;-)
