We have snow.

It's not quite Snowmageddon, but it's very pretty. (It's sort of been there since the start of the week, but only enough to make everything all frosted. Now it's actually settling.)

Tonight we decided we'd have a nice family evening, watching a film of some kind and eating marshmallows and other goodies. Darcy thought that maybe The Avengers might be on Netflix. Instead he found Daria - dunno if it's been there all along, or if it's a new addition. Either way, we watched the first four episodes, and the girls are all hooked. We are very happy, and feel that we are succeeding in this whole parenting lark. :) (There's also a heavy case of nostalgia, of course, but... Daria! ♥)

Only ever caught the odd fragment of that show; but I loved every second I could get my tired, cynical TV eyes on.

I only know Daria from the Buffyverse crossover fic 'April 10, 1997' at 'Twisting the Hellmouth' - one of the best Buffyverse stories ever written but a little confusing to me at first because I'd never even heard of Daria before.

When I first saw it, I thought someone had been watching my teenage life and decided to turn it into animated tv. Except, of course, they forgot my other little sister.

Daria is one of those things that I've been meaning to watch for forever but it's never been available conveniently. Know I have checked for it on US Netflix before and been disappointed and went to look again and, indeed, no Daria.

BUT. Turns out it is now on Hulu. JOY.

I wouldn't mind a little more snow, but since it's promised to snow heavily all night, hopefully tomorrow will be a proper winter wonderland. :) (I walk to work, which is one reason I don't mind... No need to worry about public transport/car misbehaving.)

I'm so envious. I watched Daria with my girls years ago, and I wish I had them here right now so we could watch reruns. There are shows I can only watch with them because I enjoy their reactions more than the episodes (*cough*Glee*cough*) and reruns I watch because I like them and the memories of seeing them with the kids enhances the experience. Daria is in the second class.

Mostly though (although they're growing up MUCH TOO QUICKLY) it's wonderful to be able to share stuff with them. The eldest is 14 now, and quite the fangirl - she's on Tumblr & facebook & Minecraft (and even has an LJ she uses now and again) and is involved in MLP and Merlin and things. It's adorable, and I get to mentor her and make sure she's OK.
