Tonight's Merlin (5.08)
My daughters' comments. Had to share.
So, when Gwen goes 'Oh, Merlin went to see a girl', it cuts directly to Merlin and that boy [who betrayed him] in the woods... Cue Impish Girl: "And that's her! She's a boy, and his name is Sophie!"
Sophie of course dies very bravely, and Merlin can't go see him/her again on account of her being dead and what-not.
I sometimes wonder what it'd be like to watch this show with people who take it seriously. Afterwards (we were at my in-law's) my father-in-law asked whether Gwen would stop being evil soon, and the girls were like 'YES! That's what the trailer said!' and he shook his head and said that this was no good, he was just getting the hang of it...
So basically I enjoyed tonight's episode rather a lot. Hello shirtless!Arthur, I've missed you, and Merlin was delightfully badass. Poor Sophie though.

I haven't watched a lot of the show, but shirtless!Arthur lackage is so problematic IMO.

She is. Although sometimes she... just won't shut up. She had a long rant the other day about how the BBC couldn't be 'Auntie Beeb' as it was just a corporation...

They've switched to shirtless!knights instead, but this was the good oldfashioned stuff. I approve.

I... have no idea, and it would make a blind bit of difference. He just likes to be awkward. (In a nice way. But he tends to fall asleep when watching anything on TV, misses half of the action, and then deliberately annoys everyone by asking what's going on. *g*)
Still not liking that this Mordred has no blood relation at all to Arthur. I am still thinking he is a red herring, and wil be killed.
Hmmmm. The dragon seems to think that he's the real deal. And the show isn't really twisted/convoluted enough to have a red herring like that. (ETA: They've built up Mordred since S1. No one throws away that much story.) Mind you, they've spelled out that Arthur will be his own bane, pretty much, so...
Mostly, they don't exactly stick very close to the original story. It's not Disney-fied, but they're taking what they like and leave what they don't. (Don't bother me, as I don't take it seriously. They're pretty and entertaining.)
