British sci-fi. <3

The new series of Red Dwarf is FABULOUS! For those who don't know this gem, it's basically a sitcom in outer space... a bit like a grown up Doctor Who, which instead of the Last of the Time Lords features The Last Human. Who - instead of being alien and clever and magical - is a space bum and a total slob, yet he is also every kind of awesome. I shall illustrate the differences like so ('Wonders of the Universe' Vs 'New Computer Game!'):

And yet, both shows play with EXACTLY the same ideas - time and space and what-it-means-to-be-human and paradoxes and all that mad sci-fi stuff. (Yesterday's episode centred around actions being predetermined, fatherhood [I... won't even begin to explain the impossibility of the paradox involved in this - it was GLORIOUS, and reminded me of Moffat's Jekyll. Pissed out of its head] - and Chinese Whispers. Last week's was mostly about the paralyzing force of jealousy. It was hysterical.)

Seriously, for any sci-fi trope you can think of, Red Dwarf will have done an episode, and it will have been hilarious and clever.

(I am so tired, but this show should see me through the next few weeks. ♥)

Gods, yes...I've always loved the Dwarf. I need to catch up -

And now that I think on it, you captured all the EXACT reasons I love the Dwarf and the parallels between them. The love was inevitable.

*HUGS*

Yes. This.

Someone needs to write a proper RD/DW crossover. Imagine the clash - the cynicism of RD against the idealism of DW.

I used to love old Red Dwarf ... but lost track of it when it got too silly over the last 4 seasons.

The first few were superb.

(But there again I am still a huge Blakes 7 fan!)

Loved Red Dwarf back in the day. Haven't seen the recent stuff yet.

Thanks - I shall give it a go, then.

I remember that show! Hey, didn't the guy do a stint on Coronation Street?

I started watching Cory when I was a baby and it's still on and I am OLD.

There's a new Red Dwarf? What channel is it on?

Love it when a show does that. SPN did weird for two years, then bang! - right back to where it was suppose to be.

There is never such a thing as overthinking, lol!!

OMG...now I am excite!! YUS!!

And here I thought Prometheus was a classic case of hardcore drugs in the water combined with drinking and assuming you were touching the realms of (over)thinking. Heard about it. Glad I skipped it. Saw the Honest Movie Trailer on it.

Think the Honest Movie Trailer was the best portion of that film. O_o

They get down to the Brass Tacks. *Cackles* Prometheus should make a LOT more sense now.

LOL! Therein lies the Answer. Let us Zen on it...

Have you read the novels? You'll see just how cynical Grant and Naylor were in the heyday. No aliens. The human race is totally alone and totally stupid. Earth became a garbage dump. And then lots of other bad things happened, like the GELF Wars.

I write a lot of Red Dwarf Fan Fiction. I'll have to do a crossover myself someday.
