I loved every liitle bit of it. The Doctor getting lost and arriving late. Of course he is late! (And there were lots of other bits I could have added, but a) they'd have broken the flow of the narrative and b) It's very good for me to not write every little thing that drops into my head. Besides, if there's ever a sequel, I've got stuff stored away! *g*)
Martha realizing he was like an embarrassing uncle. It seemed the perfect shift in attitude!
The Ponds taking care of the aliens so competently. They're PONDS! (Also Martha gets to see that River doesn't get it from strangers.)
(And I loved how surprised Martha was by Rory being so good at it. :D) Well they bonded over shared medical experience, and he never mentioned the whole 2000 years worth of centurion-ing... *g* (You get a Rory icon for this part!)
Tish being a Bridezilla, which was perfect! Well her main job (from what we see in S3) is as a party-organiser, so...
The way Martha's family just mostly accepted it, even the Doctor's new face without mention. I think that because they spent a whole year with him on the Valiant, they know him very well indeed, and are extremely fond of him too. (I could have done more with the new face, but it would have been a self-indulgent tangent.)
Martha's mother being so happy the Doctor was married. Part of this is because she can see that River is exceedingly competent & dangerous in her own right (and someone who goes against the Doctor's moral code without blinking), and not a star-struck thing like Martha was. If she'd thought there was any inequality in the relationship she'd have been much less pleased.
And Martha having her faith restored, if in a different way. I loved, loved, loved flipping it all round. The Doctor turns people into himself, but for Martha to really let this sink in... To be the one sought out by vengeance-driven bad guys, to be the one lying - first she gets to see the Doctor with clearer eyes, now she gets to *be* him. it struck me as the perfect ending.
But, yeah, the whole thing. I was grinning like a madman. *twirls you*
Why did this remind me of a Torchwood wedding? Only with the Doctor and Ponds instead? Well, the bride wasn't pregnant and no one punched the mother-of-the-bride... (But yes - delightful chaos & mayhem, you're absolutely spot-on!)
AWESOME! Great end to a great story! Thank you - and thanks for reading. It's been my absolute pleasure! :)
