Ah, okay, so are you saying then that the Bad Thing that will happen at Trenzalore is what causes the cracks in Time? And that is what everybody is trying to prevent? Oho! So there's two silences then. The "silence" that everyone's fleeing because the Doctor spoke something in the pre-reboot timeline and THAT is what caused the cracks, not the TARDIS being blown up. And then there's silence being the Doctor's silence, that the religious order are trying to ensure. Well, that's not a bit confusing is it? I'll have to think about that.

Because now you mention it, the bad guys at the end of the Pandorica say "The cracks in time are the work of the Doctor", and the TARDIS is exploding at every point in history (which is a much sadder thing to think about than the Doctor getting married at every point in history), so ostensibly, what happened there is that the Question was Asked, the Doctor Answered, and that made the TARDIS blow up and kill the fabric of reality.

You know, I would really really like it if that was Moffat's game from the beginning... maybe he does have a longer view plan than I gave him credit for. Maybe. And maybe we will still be able to understand why Amy's wedding day was so important. Well, okay, if it was the conception of River then I suppose that makes sense.

Okay, too much to think about, and I'm supposed to be writing my dissertation, so I must set this pondering aside for now :(

ETA: of course now we know that whatever the hell happened, the Doctor has actually already fixed it. How to tell the bad guys???? :D
