YES YES YES. I'm with you in the basically shitty wagon where none of my TV ships EVER work out, and here it finally did--the Doctor marries the woman he's crazy about, they have hot sex between episodes when nobody's watching, and it doesn't interfere with his time-traveling lifestyle. How cool is that? : D I will basically love Moff forever for this. What a romantic schmuck he is! Intellect and romance triumph over brute force and cynicism! \o/ That has NEVER happened to me before. I will never not love Moffat for - rather than teasing, and then breaking my heart, which is what I'm used to, thanks Joss and RTD for warping me - saying 'This is what's going to happen - and then follow through! MY OTP IS MARRIED!
Really, I loved everything else you said here, but it's almost 1:00 AM my time, and I'm too tired to enumerate all of them. I just want to say thank you for all your kind words about RTD and DT, both of whom I loved (even though I wanted to kill RTD some of the time). Heh. My pleasure. Well I think most people have felt like that, but I adored Ten and thought that what RTD did was interesting, not to mention that he brought the show back. Also 'The Writer's Tale' is one of my favourite books.
Thanks so much for sharing this incredible essay. I'm hoping to get my own humble offering on-line some time tomorrow--not as clever as yours, but it's helping me sort of "organize" this season in my head. Oh that's definitely what this was.
