What's important about the ending of TGWW for me (and what makes it different from what happens with Donna at the end of JE) is not only that Amy chooses for herself, but also that younger Amy remembers older Amy. *nods a lot* It's both a comfort and a warning - she can endure, and survive, something nigh on unimaginable... But she can also be in danger of losing her humanity if exposed to that kinda thing. (I'm also having vague stirrings thinking about The Doctor's Wife and Amy's nightmare with Rory waiting and waiting and waiting, and knowing what she would do in that situation ["I'm going to tear time apart for you"] must surely help.)
