I have been looking for an analysis that looks into the god-like characteristics of Doctor.
I notice the difference between RTD's and Moffat's visions of Doctor up to the point that it is difficult for me to see continuity from the 10th Doctor to the 11th. they seem like two completely different characters.
they both are god-like, but the 10th Doctor is more of a Christ figure, with the emphasis on sacrifice, salvation, and tragism. and, because I have read your analysis on Doctor and River as a god and a goddess (I started reading your meta posts from more recent ones down to this post), the 11th Doctor looks like a mythological god to me.
and I also think that Jesus Christ is a Trickster figure in Christianity. this idea stuck me suddenly after watching the film "Pirates of the Caribbean", where Captain Jack Sparrow is both a Trickster and a Christ figure :)
