Oh, cleaning . . . On the one hand, I love the sense of actual, measurable, point-at-it-and-feel-proud productivity. On the other hand . . . few things in the world as a brain-deadening as a day spent dealing with stuff.
Except a day spent doing one's taxes.
It's tax season soon. *hides*
I am ruthless in eliminating stuff from my life, and yet it's still always more than I want to deal with. I deliberately choose cramped living accommodations to keep the stuff from growing. And because finding a way to fit everything in is like playing a big, living game of Tetris =D
When I saw my sister over Christmas we agreed that there was a lot to be said for those tiny, shed-houses. We figured if we both lived in a small one together, we just might get down to a level of stuff we'd be willing to take care of. Admittedly, my mother is a hoarder, and whenever we have to face *her* stuff, both my sister and I have to fight the instinct to do a purge of *our* stuff, just to cope with the stress of having all her stuff around.
And I'm gonna stop now before I start sounding crazy or something ;)
