I must say that I love the point about the gaps leaving space for a whole 'new thing', not necessarily a continuation of the 'verse and the mythos that we found ourselves facing at the end of "Chosen". Thank you - it's by far my favourite way of looking at it, because if I look on it as a continuation of the show I get very cross. If I take it on its own terms, however, it's still problematic, but a lot of the preemptive grumbling is taken away.
I think your discomfort with some of the unthinking or unrecognized privileging of the male gaze and catering to masculine fears of empowered women in any numbers was very well-founded and well-stated. I am very glad to hear that - it's not an easy subject to tackle, because of how unconscious it is on the part of the writers.
