I just finished watching CoE on Thursday. I… I don’t know what to think of it. I enjoyed-- if that’s even the right word due to the subject matter-- Days 1-4, but Day 5? I am so very glad I knew what was going to happen, because it was horrific. And CoE is definitely going to be one of the things RTD will be known for.
The Writers Tale!
Ah. Never read it, and I don’t really want to. I don’t like knowing behind-the-scenes stuff for TV shows and movies I like. It ruins the magic. (Books and fic, though, I like knowing. Beats me what the difference is.)
'The first time that the Doctor sees Penny, it should be like - wham! Both hearts.'
O.O The Doctor as a hormonal teenager… So very glad Donna was there instead.
(And now I want to write Doctor/Penny... *is a baaaaaad person*) Hee! And I'm going to be a bad person and say, "Go for it!"
It would have been funny, though. I still remember the outrage over Reinette.
I wasn’t even around for that, and I still know how bad it was. And I *like* that episode. (I didn't even know Rose and she had *met* until I watched it.)
Clearly you have to go watch ALL of Old!Who. And listen to the audios. And read all the books...
*nods seriously* Obviously. *struggles and fails to keep a straight face* I’ll read story transcripts if I can find them, but my main source of information will be

Sorry this is two weeks late! I’ve been busy!

And I’ll find a beta who’s familiar with Classic Who somewhere. (And a Britpicker, gotta have one of those.)
Btw I asked my 9 year old the other day about whether she thought the Doctor and River were married. Her reply? "Duh!" So there you go...
*laughs* They probably are, with all the marriage jokes we’ve had.
I generally think of the Doctor as asexual, and yet I can definitely see Doctor/Reinette and Doctor/Queen Elizabeth. (But not Doctor/Rose f.ex) I think I can see Doctor/River, but it'll only ever be subtext I'm sure.
That’s the thing about shipping-- it’s so individual. (I wish more people recognized that. I hate ship wars.) I see one-sided Reinette/Doctor (I saw the usual fanboying of historical figures on his part, which makes me part of the extreme minority on that episode), QE was part of a bit of insanity, and Doctor/Rose-- I think I could make a post on why I ship them and why it’s not a healthy relationship. Doctor/River-- if it does go there, I’m fairly sure it won’t be subtext, because Moffat won’t want to tease us like RTD did with Rose. (River seems to be almost anti-Rose, in that she's a healthy relationship and defines herself in a way that doesn't center around the Doctor. And even then, I think River would respect the role Rose had in his life.)
You have not read my AWESOME theory about the New!Who Doctors?
That’s hilarious. And I need to watch “Curse of the Fatal Death” now. (I’ve been watching random episodes of Classic Who recently, though mostly Seven.)
Oh but she doesn't. That's the thing, the marvellous, wonderful thing - for all intents and purposes she is now immortal from a story point of view! \o/
I think we’re going to have to disagree about this. She may be trapped/living inside a giant computer/library world, but she can’t *do* anything in the wider universe. To my mind, she’s dead. (I don’t like the Library episodes. The only reason I’ll watch them again is when we finally get enough episodes I can do a River-order rewatch.)
And seeing the Doctor working out how to deal with his emotions is one of my favourite things ever.
Yes! Eleven is just… wonderful. He’s running, but he’s also not.
And Ten's temperament was very different too - I absolutely believe that he was somehow damaged and broken right from the start, and then everything he went through just made it worse.
Nine wore his broken, damaged heart for all to see, and he was starting to heal. Ten hid it, and tried to run from it. And that’s never a good thing when someone’s as powerful as he is.

Oh, good!
