I rather like that, you know. I adore it. It's them-- I can't see them being "normal".
You might just have thrown light on my own reading patterns. Thank you. You're welcome!
That is a wonderful quote. And I'm giving CoE a chance-- I've seen Day 1, and it's wonderful so far. If it gets too grim, I can always turn it off. (Strangely, it's one of those things I think I'd be more comfortable reading than watching.)
I think the problem with love stories is that they have to go somewhere. Yes, they do. RTD did basically every variation of the ending possible for a Doctor/someone relationship. (And, thing is, I like that he *had* Doctor romance, and my only complaint about the Doctor/Rose ending is that she never got to say goodbye to the original Doctor. And I say this as a non-rabid Doctor/Rose shipper-- though I prefer Doctor/Rose/Jack.)
Moffat has very cleverly sidestepped this with Doctor/River, which almost exists outside the narrative, and thus we're never caught in that 'will they/won't they?' thing. I still see the "will they/won't they" but that's because I'm not yet a Doctor/River shipper. The sole reason: I don't know enough about River. Because other than that? She's fantastic for him.
