I really like the way you incorporated so much of older episodes into his thought processes here. Like his mind is too full of all he didn't do with Rose and all he can no longer do, and he's still finding himself. Like his moments of temptation to rewrite the entire world with his life and make it better. His stories about his wild and lonely school days when he was just scraping by. Or when he was abandoned and made human and exiled from his own people and forced to work with humans. When he was abandoned with Marth by the weeping angels and had to rely on her for support. When he was trapped and isolated in a land of brilliant crystal that could kill you, and humans reacted with suspicion towards him, and he was taken over. I'd never realized how often those elements repeat themselves in this story. I think that's why his relationship with Rose resonates so well with me - because she's the antidote to all that.

Like you write about humans always searching for that second heart - out of biological necessity.

You're playing with so many ideas and history here. I really loved it.
