RIP King of Pop.

It's a strange world we live in. Here's how I found out that MJ had died: The first website I went to when I turned on the computer was Andrew Sullivan, and at the top of his page was 'Live-Tweeting The Revolution: Day 13'. Fourth tweet down read:

R.I.P Micheal Jackson, many in Iran loved you and grew up with your songs, despite all the Regime's confinements and propaganda

Maybe there's something profound to be extracted from this, but for now I'm just going with weird. Anyway, like many others have said, it feels like a part of my childhood just died. This morning I put on HISTORY for the first time in years (it's my only MJ CD. I have all his [older] albums, but on tape. And in my parents house...) - and the thing is, I listen to these songs (Rock With You, She's Out Of My Life, Beat It, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, etc. etc.) and I'm 14 years old again, sitting with my BF in her bedroom listening to music. She was very cool and had all the best albums (proper vinyl records!) and, incidentally, was the one who coined 'Elisi' as a nickname for me.

I don't know that I have much to say, really. I've been watching TMF most of the day, which has back-to-back MJ music videos, and am marvelling at the man's talent and the tragedy of his life. I'll leave you with a link to this round-up post.

Finally, this seems to fit.

Goodbye Michael. And thank you for the music.
