You portrayed Lucy's way of life quite accurately in just a few sentences—the boring men, that comfortable, but quite pointless life, being so aware that she didn't have outstanding intelligence, having no particular ambition, nor seeming to think that she could achieve anything but marriage. She seemed very lucid about it all, quite acidly so—there was something very biting in the description of her date, and of the future she would have with such a man. And the Master brought something so new, so vivid to that dull world of hers. He was stellar—so fitting that she didn't even quite know how to describe him. The way he suddenly interrupted her date and burst into her world was dazzling. Everything about him was—his looks, not because he was attractive, but because of his charisma and the mesmerizing quality of him, and the way he talked to that insipid man. I really got the exact same feel as when he was talking to the politicians after being elected: "You are a peasant and my intelligence and superiority much exceed what your common human brain can comprehend. In words you can understand: I am going to get rid of you now." I loved that Roger's first reaction, then the way the Master smoothly took control over him and just made him scutter away. Smooth and controlled. Mmm. *fangirl tingle* I loved the way he paid attention to Lucy's first name, because it meant something, and cared nothing about her family. You portrayed that in a really lovely way. And then the way he talked to her… It left me wide-eyed. And I loved how Lucy instinctively perceived that this was actually true, that this Harold Saxon was something more and beyond anything she had ever seen. Her reactions were also spot-on, she seemed so light-headed and utterly entranced. I loved the way you showed the Master suddenly getting ideas about changing cows' brains, lol. Reminded me of Alex—like father, like son, or rather they share the same fabulous intelligence. And I adored the way Lucy couldn't get anything much of what he was saying, but he didn't make her feel stupid—it felt like a secret. Gosh, that was perfection. Loved the little references to her father too.
He has asked me out again next week. I can’t wait. I can't wait to see more of this ;)
