If those in America wonder what the current protests make me think of (what any uprising makes me think of), it's this song / video from the Green Movement in Iran in 2009. The crowds, the righteous anger, the demands for justice, the police brutality, the fires, even the masks...

And now, we are all of us living in Interesting Times. The Horsepeople are riding out, as they have ridden so many times before, and the world still needs saving – from plague, from racism, from foolishness and selfishness and pain. It says in Good Omens that we have to save ourselves, because nobody else is going to sort it out for us. And we do.

Finally the media are starting to report on events and protests as they actually happened, though sad to say the issue of violence and numbers vs actual purpose of the events continues to lead the day.

Neil Gaiman is a worth award winner. He is also a really good example of how to apologise after moving from one of your homes to another under lock-down. But Dominic Cummings does not have the ability to be gracious.
Obviously they were two different cases ; Dominic Cummings basically wrote the rules and so should have been well aware that he was breaking them. His offence was the worse of the two, but it is Neil Gaiman who apologised whole-heartedly and sincerely to all the people of Skye. And my guess is that the apology will have been accepted and he will just get on with life there.
