IDK, I was always amazed that you managed to write reasonably complete and coherent meta episode after episode. Me too! ;)
And I think the task has just gotten harder and harder, both in the sheer volume of addressable things, giving the accumulation of ideas season after season, and in the difficulty of handling the open-endedness. I think 'here's some ideas we're batting around this week' isn't a bad approach at all? Save your energy for when we have the bigger picture and you can do it properly. Good point. Like - Extremis was just this enormous massive ball of STUFF. It was nice to do something far more simple - and I do remember the beginning of the season and feeling like I had nothing to write. Ha! *cries*
Ha! I completely believe that. A lot of waffle though. And sidebars.
Huh. Moff has been slowly drawing us a picture of the exact dimensions of the Doctor's mortality, hasn't he? True. I wish I was more familiar with the Classic show, so I knew how it all fits. But I think it ties in with the point you made? He's not from 'space', he's from a planet like everyone else. Time Lords are a species - a higher species, but still physical beings. If Ten was The Lonely God, then Eleven & Twelve are a Mad Man and Idiot respectively - no godhead anywhere near them.
