Re: River Song and agency

Hmmm. I may be right and it is River in the vault. I'd be happy if that were true.
Well you are the first person to suggest it. And I'm not sure how being locked in a vault would be better than... well, anything else. In prison she could pop in and out whenever she wanted. Plus Nardole is *her* servant originally. It's hard to see why he would be OK with locking her up.

Personally, I was not happy with how it ended for her -- it seemed to me that she was trapped in the Library and it was not her choice. The Doctor put her there. And she is stuck in a loop...of sorts. For eternity.
Didn't you watch Name of the Doctor? The Library ending (or lack thereof) was specifically addressed as being cruel and endless and they said a proper goodbye and she 'died' (for lack of better word, it wasn't *her*, but her data ghost). Anyway, she's properly gone. (*sniff*)

All that said, I like your 'trapped' theme. And wrestling back agency. Mmmm yes, that works. Thank you!!

ETA: I often forget that Americans might not know all the cultural touchstones that are woven into the show. Would River gleefully play 'Pop goes the weasel' after hearing about a house that eats children?
