In slow motion, the blast is beautiful.

So, this....

...reminds me of the Iraqi Information Minister, Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf.

Some of you may be too young to remember him (scroll down for 'TREASURY OF DEATHLESS QUOTES'), but he was the one wheeled in front of the cameras to deliver complete and utter fabrications... A little taste:

"Lying is forbidden in Iraq. President Saddam Hussein will tolerate nothing but truthfulness as he is a man of great honor and integrity. Everyone is encouraged to speak freely of the truths evidenced in their eyes and hearts."

When told coalition troops occupied Baghdad airport -
"...at Saddam Airport? Now that's just silly!"

[On surrenders] "Those are not Iraqi soldiers at all. Where did they bring them from?"

"They are sick in their minds. They say they brought 65 tanks into center of city. I say to you this talk is not true. This is part of their sick mind."

"We are winning!"

Even if he could withdraw; which he can't now anyway, as voting has already begun, I don't want him to now. The more damage he does to the Republicans the more hope there is that what sane elements remain, and there are none at all above state level, may gain enough cause to reform; or form a new party out of the GOP's ashes.

Whatever happens on the Democrat side the rise of populism on the left means that they will struggle to hold their own consensus together. Too many rightward-looking Democrats, and leftward-looking Republicans will be looking for a new home, and the left of the Democrats will not be happy under any President their party is ever likely to find as a candidate.

There are changes coming, and if Hillary Clinton wishes to preserve some sanity, she will find herself fighting to maintain a path between those attracted to Sanders, and those driven out of the Republican party.

And Obama thought he had it tough!

He can't go...the ballots have been printed, candidates confirmed. Pence is almost worse than he is, because he tied his wagon to such filth - so I would want him heading up the ticket anyway. I want The Orange One RIGHT where he is. Because the longer he is there, being vulgar, disgusting (and losing), the more of a chance we will take back the Senate and the House!

BTW, this exact thing happened fourty to fifty years ago. When 'Dems were Repubs' and 'Repubs were Dems'. The party is different, but the rhetoric was the same...and that train had to wreck before it got better. It's about that time again.

I've been seeing that!! With yours, the 'politics' of the parties stay the same, but they still need to undergo extreme shifts before it gets better. Happened during the Thatcher Era. Time for that shift to happen again. Soon. Labour is just as wishy-washy as our Dems (hopefully that's changing, but that is a direct correlation to the implosion), Tories are as volatile, out of touch and every-ist-you-can-think-of, like our Repubs (that's DEFINITELY going to spank our Repubs...sounds like the Tories aren't doing too hot either, by the rumblings) and your Green Party is just as fruitcakey and insane as our Tea Partiers and Independents combined!! Change should be coming. Unfortunately, it gets worse BEFORE it gets better. We barely avoided Barry Goldwater. Hopefully we can sidestep Trump the same way...

Love that meme!! One of my favs, actually!

Mmm...that was our Dems four years ago (which was why we lost the House and Senate) but four more years before THAT they were 'lukewarm' and known for sitting back and letting things slide, other than governing. Our slick, smart and focused are only NOW coming into play. Genius move, as it makes them look like last minute, forgotten heroes. :D

Yup. Same difference.

Sorry. Did not mean to Insult the Green. Last year a Green party candidate said something...not too on the level and I just went 'crazy' and went on. Jill Stein and Gary Johnston are...sleepers. It isn't until you REALLY look at them that you realize our Independent Party has lost it just as much as the GOP...only quieter. :D And yeah, the Tea Partiers came close to getting power (Ted Cruz) but got outted for being fruiter than nutcakes- and the Independents...well, they are ignored most of the time. But now they are known for being nuts as WELL as being ignored.

Gosh yes! That would be lovely. And then Repubs will retalitate by NOT voting GOP (for local, state and federal elections) because A) some voted for him ANYWAY or B) they 'abandoned Trump AND the Party'. Win/win, sweetie...Win/Win!!

Seen this?

Sometimes Joss is on it (via Twitter)

As the father of a young girl, I am deeply upset by how far I have to drive to her soccer games. As a human person, trump said fuckin' WHAT?

I have my issues with Joss' brand of feminism, but yeah. Just. Yeah. This is good.

I can't even begin to say say how bazaar this election has been so far. I am filled with glee that the video came out about Trump and for the reaction it is causing. But there are very nagging concerns. How did it get to this point? How are so many people supporting Trump? Why was this the straw that seemed to finally break the camel's back after all the horrible things he has said about women, ethnic groups, and individuals? Why wasn't he booted out along time ago? The answers to this terrify me, and even if Trump is done, the genie is out of the bottle.

I do feel comforted that Hillary now seems destined to win and I look forward to seeing Trump suffer a humiliating loss. Which he will of course blame on everything else but him. But I should add that with this election everything can still turn on a dime. Also, the Dems need to win the Senate or she will be stymied at every turn.

I wish the election was tomorrow.

Whoa, the similarities are just uncanny.

As far as I know, he can't be replaced on the ticket now. People have already started voting.

I don't want him removed, because he's so crazy, I want people to see it and vote against him, hopefully by a landslide.

But it's been a thing of beauty to see so many top-level GOPers denouncing him. I don't think that's ever happened to any political candidate in my lifetime.

I'm heartened by the outrage but also depressed that there wasn't this much outrage before.
