Imzy 2

A few notes for those who find the whole thing confusing.

As Promethia reminded me, there are these things called Forums... And Imzy is based on Reddit. They've called the forums 'communities', but it helps to keep the forum model in your head. The aim is to get people together to discuss stuff. (Which is one reason I'll not discuss the personal blog option. The other reason is that I've done zero research on that question. *g*)

Basically it goes like this: You get an invite from someone, and sign yourself up with a username, in the process choosing interests. Now your basic account is just that - basic. It's there simply to allow you to sign up to communities where you can interact with others.

What Imzy does, however, is that it will let you use as many different aliases as you like. That is, every time you sign up to a community you can choose an existing name, or choose a new one. So, f.ex., for a Buffy smut community you might name yourself 'Pervy Angel Fancier'. This would obviously be quite inappropriate in a community discussing child abuse, where you could use a different moniker, such as 'Kate1'. Other users will not be able to see any connection between the names, so you can be lots of different people at the same time.

However, if you use one of your aliases to f.ex. troll a Black Lives Matter community and spouting Trumpisms, Imzy will shut down your basic account, meaning all of your identities are deleted. (This to prevent sock puppeting etc.)

The important bit - from my POV - is that when you sign up to a community you have to choose a name/identity. (Unless you want to be anonymous, which is also possible.) For the purposes of my Doctor Who comm, however, I have 15 members, but only two with actual names - and one of them is me! So plz go name yourselves? Not ENTIRELY sure how you do this, if you don't do it when you sign up, but maybe leave a comment on the Welcome post? (It should prompt you to choose a name.)

Oh and Imzy doesn't work with HTML but something called Markup (or Markdown), which... I'll get back to once I work out what it is. All I know so far is that putting asterisks around works make them italic.

Also I still have replies to answer on my previous post, so I'll stop now. But feel free to ask if you have any questions (Here or there, whichever). I probably won't know the answers, but we can have fun trying to work stuff out!

Finally, since I set up a community I now have... 200 invites! So there's plenty to go round. Just comment with your email address and I'll send one your way. :D
