Oh yeeeees. That was very good, I had seen it. I don't know why, but for some reason TheGaroStudios' videos generally don't do that much for me. However, the music is always spectacular, and this was one of the exceptions, I really liked it.
Oh, oh, can we recommend videos for such usage btw? (You'll have to imagine a puppy excitedly wagging its tail in anticipation because I don't have a gif).
I don't know why, but for some reason TheGaroStudios' videos generally don't do that much for me. They're very slick, but it's not always that the emotional punch is as good as it is with this one. (I'm such a vid snob! *g*)
Oh, oh, can we recommend videos for such usage btw? Sure, rec away. One can never have too many vids.
I am now completely bald, such is the extent to which that video snatched me. Cheers. My pleasure! *tips hat*
P.S. Dead @ your response to LJ's comment above. It always tickles me when I get one of those messages, and well - I'm reminded of this little exchange from Busman's Honeymoon by Dorothy Sayers:
He [Peter] worried a great deal. "Very likely he does," said Mrs Goodacre. "You can see he's that sort. Simon's just the same if he has had to be severe with anybody. But that's men all over. They want the thing done and then, of course, they don't like the consequences. Poor dears, they can't help it. They haven't got logical minds."
I don't know why, but for some reason TheGaroStudios' videos generally don't do that much for me. However, the music is always spectacular, and this was one of the exceptions, I really liked it. Allow me to remedy that statement, I also loved (and became quite popular by rec-ing to friends and colleagues who were in the middle of their exam period, Consulting Morale Booster or something), their multifandom "Get Up" video. Which is also an achievement on their part because I rarely like multifandom vids, do watch if you want.
Sure, rec away. One can never have too many vids. Alright, I'm gonna recommend you the "Doctor Who-Valeyard Rises Trailer". As I put it in my Deviantart rec thingy: "What if? Now, this is the video that made me go: 'Can we make him evil? Just for one episode? Please! I know it would make no sense whatsoever, but it would be awesome!' What I particularly like, is how this manages to be simultaneously chilling and terrifying but also very, very tragic and sad. It should be. It is the great fall from grace that should never had happened, and it did because it all was too much. I mean, when they throw in the shot from Doomsday near the end, you feel genuinely sorry for him.
And also, although *you* might have already seen everything, other people may have not, and I'll never stop recommending this anyway, so: THE DOCTOR GAMES (Doctor Who/Hunger Games Parody). "Relax, throw all logic out of the window, enjoy this ridiculously awesome and awesomely ridiculous hilariousness and may the Oods be ever in your favor."
Now, if you've watched them all already, what can I do, you're impossible. But I do have more, so no worries. Enjoy.
their multifandom "Get Up" video. Which is also an achievement on their part because I rarely like multifandom vids, do watch if you want. Very neat in its parallels, but I only knew about 1/3 of the shows/movies, so it mostly re-enforced how some tropes get used over & over. :)
Alright, I'm gonna recommend you the "Doctor Who-Valeyard Rises Trailer" ... Dunno, didn't do that much for me. Clever, but... The first time I watched Handlebars I got literal shivers. And then Waters of Mars came along, and he actually lost it. I don't know that making him 'evil' would do anything much different to what we've seen so far. (/different strokes)
THE DOCTOR GAMES (Doctor Who/Hunger Games Parody) OH YES THAT I HAVE SEEN!
Very neat in its parallels, but I only knew about 1/3 of the shows/movies, so it mostly re-enforced how some tropes get used over & over. Well, watch more shows and movies! And you know, Tropes Are Not Bad. It’s just that some use them better than others. (I mean the Tv Tropes Recap page for Heaven Sent is about 8 pages long. Is it an awesome episode or is it an awesome episode?)
Clever, but... The first time I watched Handlebars I got literal shivers. And then Waters of Mars came along, and he actually lost it. I don't know that making him 'evil' would do anything much different to what we've seen so far. Ok, many things. 1. I think this is just because Handlebars is so unbelievably amazing. It’s what I call the “Return of the Jedi Syndrome”: It’s not a bad movie, far from it. But “The Empire Strikes Back” is SO GOOD!!! 2. Handlebars shows playful innocence gradually building up into intense arrogance and insanity. But the Doctor thinks he’s in the *right*. (My reach is global, my tower secure/ My cause is noble, my power is pure). This video is “What if he didn’t have a Heel Realisation?” It tries to portray a Doctor who eventually doesn’t care anymore. 3. Anyway, I think I mostly like this one because of the music, and the inclusion of many Doctors, both New and Classic Who. And it’s a rare and very successful “let’s go all out and do a dark AU with the material we’ve got” video. And the thing is, you *know* that this is not going to happen, so you just enjoy it as a what-if, that’s the difference. Handlebars is like you said, shiver-inducing, *exactly* because it’s kind of prophetic. You watch it and you go “Oh, shit. Ten is actually losing it. Fuck. How didn’t I notice”. It exaggerates very little, in essence it shows you what is actually happening. What, what, what are you doing, look at your life, look at your choices etc.
OH YES THAT I HAVE SEEN! Have you seen “The Dead Rory Sketch?” Or the “The Big Whobowski”? :)))))
(I mean the Tv Tropes Recap page for Heaven Sent is about 8 pages long. Is it an awesome episode or is it an awesome episode?) Oh I'm not arguing that tropes are bad. Just that sometimes - when lined up like that - you realise why they are tropes. (You've seen The Price, right? Less good trope.)
1.I think this is just because Handlebars is so unbelievably amazing. It’s what I call the “Return of the Jedi Syndrome” I watched The Eleventh Hour the other night. So I definitely concede this point. :)
2. This video is “What if he didn’t have a Heel Realisation?” It tries to portray a Doctor who eventually doesn’t care anymore. I think the issue might be that I have a sort of memory of another vid doing this, but it's a long time ago and I can't remember it. Or maybe I'm thinking of and explode into space (which is a fic). Which is, again, different. Ignore me.

Handlebars is like you said, shiver-inducing, *exactly* because it’s kind of prophetic. Not 'kind of'. Literally. I still remember watching Waters of Mars and going 'Shit. Handlebars is coming true!!!!' My whole flist was just shouting 'Handlebars!' afterwards. :D
