It was affairs, sex and blood. "Doesn't matter if it's necessary, just put it in cause we can" mentality. I still stuck with the show to see if it would improve. Me too. And I loved it very much, as it was, basically, a fic-writers DREAM. Anything could happen. Nothing was too far-fetched. (Oh god the fic. The fic was MAGNIFICENT. *deep sigh*)
Amy was objectified. Was it necessary for the camera to snake up her legs like that?. The Doctor calling her "Legs". Well objectively she IS all legs. And Karen Gillan was the one who chose the wear the skirt - originally the character wore trousers. The director's choice of shot I can't comment on.
Eleventh Doctor referring to Clara: A mystery wrapped in an enigma squeezed into a skirt that's just a little bit too tight. To be fair, that was the evil!Cyber!Doctor. And it's incorrect anyway, as Clara doesn't wear tight skirts.
I guess we can say that Moffat likes sexually confident women. And what little girl wouldn't want to be River Song?
Also, River (and Amy, initially - oh and Tasha Lem) objectified Eleven - he was young and handsome and this was repeatedly acknowledged.
I'm just comparing it to the Rusty era. I'm not disregarding their qualities as a person. I felt the emphasis on their physique or their sexuality was heighten. RTD and women... I'm not going to go there. I listened to people bitch for four years. It wasn't pretty. And they weren't always wrong... (Back in the day, everyone hated RTD, and Moffat was going to be The Great Saviour. Not of course everyone thinks RTD was wonderful, and hates Moffat and I just can't get my head around it. Where were they when I was apparently the ONLY one who liked RTD?)
I thought she moved back in with her mother and that's when Jackie found a retail assistant job for "Rose". Sorry:( I know there was an ex called Jimmy, and I can't remember much else... Although to be fair I've not watched those episodes in years. I *do* know that in 'Rose' she was living at home & dating Mickey.
Thanks for your help. I really need to do a computer course.:) I wrote all the different codes down when I first got my LJ and kept them next to my computer. Haven't learned much since...
