Why thank-you. I was a slow burner for me. I didn't have a crush on him until series 4. I don't know that I crush on him. But he's just immensely watchable.
I though I was saying what everybody was thinking?. David just "toned down" the sex appeal on "Doctor Who". At least we got to see his deep brown eyes. Ah yes. No harm in that. ;)
I didn't mind that aspect of the Doctor was done. It depends on how you look at it. Is it appropriate to force a guy to snog you or pat his behind?. Although when this wasn't happening, the Doctor did use his "allure" to flirt. Now poor Peter Capaldi is left with the "old" tag. Well, he's the one that decided there'd be no more romance, so the choice was his. As for the kisses - well, Amy was very confused and had a whole bunch of issues that she was dealing with rather badly. Victorian!Clara just picked up on the fact that he was attracted to her. River of course flirted all over everything, but then she was his wife. So that's one kiss from each companion, not counting his wife. Hardly OTT.
Re. the rebooted show in general, then they very specifically put relationships front & centre. Nine & Rose were promoted as 'soulmates'. So yes, it was much more front & centre than it was in the old show.
In regards to the Moffat quote. I can take or leave what he thinks. Well, I like him, and he usually has interesting things to say. Ditto RTD. And I think it's useful to know what they think.
Did any female champions "jump" the Doctor like Amy or Clara did?. You mean older ones? No idea, sadly I've not watched much of the Classic show.
Maybe I'm analyzing this too much.:( You're not the first, nor are you the last! :)
The Master(John Simm): He loves playing with Earth Girls. Amy: You. Are. A bloke. The Doctor: I'm the Doctor. Amy: Every room you walk into, you laugh at all the men and show off to all the girls. The Doctor: Do not. [...] Amy: Does that mean I'm not the first, then? There've been others travelling with you? The Doctor: [chuckles nervously] Yeah, sure. Loads of 'em, but just friends. You know, chums, pals, mates, buddies--not mates, forget mates. Amy: And out of all those friends, how many would you say, just out of curiosity, were girls?
And then we get that delightful little showcase of all his companions... about 97% of which are young, female and pretty.
Doesn't mean he isn't Space Gandalf. But. Me thinks the Master learned the taste for Earth Girls from the Doctor.
