Tomorrow...
I kept meaning to write something about S9. Something... preparatory.
Guess this - whatever it'll be - will have to do.
The thing is, the poster and the trailers didn't really ping anything. Moffat talked about this being Twelve & Clara's glory years, and the main impression I got for an arc was 'hubris'. (A bit like Ten & Rose in S2. But with Clara as Ten.)
But now there's more...
Prequel (Thought: Ohila & the Doctor appear to be talking about different people.)
The Doctor's Meditation
Moffat's episode guide
I've only skimmed the titles (spoiler phobe here) but oh, they're like poetry. ♥
And then this:
”Saturday 19 September, it all begins again. There will be Daleks, and Zygons, and the Mire, and there might just be something in your eye, and have you ever found yourself in a street you never saw before and can never find again, and how can a young girl be a tidal wave, and which of Missy’s stories is a lie (pay attention), and just how far would the Doctor go for someone he loves, and why do only some people become ghosts, and what’s in the boxes, and what happens when your life is longer than your memory, and most importantly, how many seconds are in eternity. Answers soon. Some of them may break your heart…”
-- Moffat
And I'm just beginning to get lost in all the metaphors again. With snippets like this from early reviews:
This isn’t entry-level Who for beginner Whovians. It could never have made the screen in 2005. Indeed, it’s hard to imagine it existing before 2013, so much does it feel like the next logical progression in Steven Moffat’s evolution of the series.
(Btw, this is a very good post: Doctor Who, Last Christmas and the Return of Magic)
Now, of course I've heard the news that this is Jenna's last season. How will she leave? I never wrote about 'Last Christmas' but the one thing that struck me was that it was unclear if they'd left the dream. Clara was still in the big old house... It's an outlier, but it's perfectly possible that S9 could be a dream and when Clara wakes up she's old and frail again. I don't think it's likely, but... There it is. Dreams within dreams within dreams.
Mostly - go watch Pompeii, and prepare for awesomeness! :)
I realise this is very short on actual thoughts - hopefully I'll be more verbose once I've seen the first episode. I still can't quite believe it's tomorrow...

SO. NOT. READY. I can feel the meta-cogs grinding slowly into gear, with all these boxes and tidal waves and memories....(even just watching The Doctor's Meditation - 'he's looking for water! Water = Time! Well = metaphor for Gallifrey! Etc! Etc! ...oh god help what's wrong with me')
All I really want is for Clara to get a happy ending. And not die. Oh Claramyclara please be ok <3

You and me both. It's... snuck up on me? Somehow.

Well, you're waaaay ahead of me. I went 'OH GOD AMY'S THEME, WHY DON'T YOU JUST KILL ME AND HAVE IT DONE WITH?' and that was it. Brain kaput.
All I really want is for Clara to get a happy ending. And not die. Oh Claramyclara please be ok <3
Well, either she'll still be old!Clara and everything was a dream. Or Danny comes back and she gets to have a happily ever after, somehow.

Right, I suppose I would have learned at some point that bit about Jenna but your post was the first I heard of it. I'm not too disappointed in having the foreknowledge but it might count as needing a mild spoiler warning to some?

The moment when the Doctor is asked where things started.
Then he goes on about looking for a bookshop etc.
But.
Amy's theme.
(I'm not brilliant with music - in recognising it, I mean - but I've trained myself to pay attention, because it's so important.)

Have fun! ;)

My pleasure - although I owe all my links to Owls. Oh, and yes, I meant to mention that it would not surprise me at all if he and Ohila were talking about different people. Esp as he never got Missy's pronouns wrong.

Sorry! Meant to add spoilery warning thing, but my brain is all over the place. Twas only announced today, and it's still on the BBC's front page. But I shall add something. Hope you don't mind too much.

ugh I just re-read Moffat's quote again and 'there might just be something in your eye' FFS MOFFAT I'M RED UP WITH WRITING ABOUT EYES (no I'm not please carry on Moffat I will never be fed up of writing about eyes or making vids about them)

I see what you did there. ;)

Or maybe he just means we'll all bawl our eyes out. Also a possibility.

Sadly, I think in these little side-pieces they can't pay Murry Gold or something and just stick in whatever fits the mood. Or that's the best I've been able to figure.
Wells, on the other hand!
ETA: if wells are about Gallifrey, which I rather like, then I like Clara as the Witch of the Well even more *g*

Like - oh Twelve doing things, I wonder what he's planning, attention span of a gold fish (so much more Eleven-ish I like this), goody his new friend is pushing for answers- OH GOD AMY NO I CAN'T.
no subject
Twelve will find Gally, after a few wrong turns and with some help from his friends (Claraaaaaa! And...Missy?) and then when he finds it, he will realise it's not quite *everything* he wanted after all.
omg, one of my DEAREST WISHES for the return of Gallifrey is for it to be all big and dramatic and emotional and glorious for like...ten minutes. And then they try to make the Doctor president, AGAIN, and he's like "....ahahahahaNOPE" and runs off again, but joyfully this time. Gleeful and delighted that at long last, after a few thousand years, he once again has something to run from that is not just his own shadow.
And maybe he leaves Clara there, to keep an eye on it all, and to teach them how to be better, to be the Good Witch in the Well (graduating from being just the Witch's Familiar)...
Re. eggs - I've always loved that beautiful theory of yours. And it's still possible - perhaps the key to rediscovering Gally is hidden inside Clara somehow? Perhaps planted there when she spoke to them through the crack in the wall? Clara must be the key to it all, after all this time.
/o\ oh god why is this happening to me it hasn't even started yet /o\

I'm so glad it's happening to someone, my brain still hasn't kicked into gear.
Wells = hidden, buried pockets of water, which need to be sought out and need hard work to access. Water = Time, as always. (The Doctor thinks he's "good at water' (time) but actually as we know he's pretty bad at it and rarely lands when he wants to). Gallifrey = hidden inside its own pocket of time. So Gally = a well.
Your logic is irrefutable.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Moffat said was likely to happen. :)

OMG Clara as Ace. I'd forgotten that particular idea. (Although she said that she doesn't want to be a Queen.)

This. This exactly. She's JUST A NORMAL GIRL, they keep telling us this, over and over. Except...

Oooo, remember the Clara echo on Gallifrey? What if she's still there?

I'd forgotten Hide... ALL THE IMAGERY.

That was a LONG time ago. Although... Knowing that Clara leaves. Hmmmmm. Quantum Clara.

Fortunately, I'd just watched it *hero stance* It's still awesome, too. Somebody go find Neil Cross and tie him up and force him to write Doctor Who again!

Well, it was awhile ago for the Doctor, and he's still here. Presumably the Clara on Gallifrey had some Time Lord-y-ness to her. And it's not like we watched her die or anything: she seemed safe enough.

I remember that that was the point when my meta brain just broke, and there was nothing but imagery left... (x) And I guess he's busy?

Yeah, I wonder about that. *pokes her* We have had NOTHING about the echoes since NotD. *pokes some more*

That's a sign of some good television, I should think.
And I guess he's busy?
Pfffftt. It's Doctor Who!
Yeah, I wonder about that. *pokes her* We have had NOTHING about the echoes since NotD. *pokes some more*
Yeah, isn't that weird? It feels weird. All this build-up and then . . . *poof* not a word more.

I don't know if it's actually a spoiler, as I'm sure you've heard. But... Better safe than sorry, I know. :)
