I don't think we've had that great a voice since Tom Baker.
It sounds like a nice, erudite, educated man, with just a hint of underlying menace.
He certainly doesn't sound like someone you'd want to mess with.
Love it!
Although, I'm also sure he'll be a complete "Sweetie." (With Moffat writing him, and Capaldi playing him, I don't see how he could be otherwise.)

Eleven looked harmless and daft, but had a core of darkness.

I'm not familiar with Capaldi (I'm very ignorant of British actors who are not in Hollywood, didn't know who Tennant was until 6 months ago :D), but I rewatched Pompei recently and he was soooo good!
So he is doing unnatural things to the TARDIS then? And asking menacing questions? Interesting! :)

I'm not familiar with Capaldi (I'm very ignorant of British actors who are not in Hollywood, didn't know who Tennant was until 6 months ago :D), but I rewatched Pompei recently and he was soooo good!
He's *very* good. And probably best known for his role as the foulmouthed spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It, a political satire. And when I say foulmouthed, I mean it. Here is a charming mash-up to illustrate people's immediate ideas about what his Doctor might be like... (A LOT OF SWEARING RIGHT FROM THE START OMG!)

Or he could just be unusually bad at regulating his own body, by Time Lord standards. Probably he skipped that lesson because it was far more important to build a complicated apparatus to turn Koschei's schoolwork into Time Cheese.
