And I almost felt superfluous writing it, if that makes sense?
It totally makes sense. At the same time, a good analysis manages to detach itself from the material and carry its own beauties. It needs to be organised and thought and you do it perfectly. I think you explain better than Moffat even what he does.

I think Moffat said that she remembers them sort of dream-like.
Oh, I don't particularly enjoy his interpretation as a fic-writer. To me, the echoes, work exactly as photocopies i.e. they are photographs of Clara at a moment. But whatever happens to them after the photography is taken doesn't affect the original. Clara remembers passing through his life (perpendicularly, but his life is not linear, so she crosses his life many times. She remembers that precise moment where she meets the Doctor because it is when the photocopy was made, the flash in a way) but not her lives. I personally endorse this approach because it allows me to create echoes who are based on one personality trait, turned upside down so that this trait now becomes the ground on which I build the character. It allows me more space for character exploration in fics.

River was... Well, River was his re-boot in a person, whereas Clara is the person who holds him by the hand and guides him across the threshold. (Oooh, I like that.)
Oh, completely. I discussed Clara and River in relation to the Doctor here. The first half is mostly answering the question, so ignore it, but in the second part, I talk a little about River and Clara and the Doctor, and our views are similar. The minisode confirms this interpretation I think. I have nitpicks, but the meta there is gold. Clara is a teacher, a nanny, a guardian. River is a professor, a wife, a lock.
