Day 4.

I got 'The Fry Chronicles' for my birthday, and in it Stephen Fry talks a fair bit about writing, a lot of which resonated:

The peculiar exultant joy that comes over you when you have written a piece of work is like no other. [Nothing] comes close to the special pride you feel in having made something that was not there before out of no more exotic material than words. p143

I worried that I was going to have to be primarily a writer. Why worry, you may ask? Well, although it is true that one feels fantastic when one has finished a writing task, it is mostly horrible while one is doing it. You will see therefore that writing, ghastly at the time but great afterwards, is exactly the opposite of sex. All that keeps one going is the knowledge that one will feel good when it's all over. p248

Didn't actually get much done today - just under 1000 words, and most of them are terrible. I blame Joss Whedon.

5031 / 30000 words. 17% done!
