Wishing a Very Happy Birthday to [personal profile] enevarim - hope you have a brilliant day (with no stress). :)

No show has any right to be this good, this early. Those of you not watching, you’re missing out. Just look at the title of this one. And in case you’re wondering – yes, it’s 100% literal. And coming just off Extremis too… Just goes to show how you can do exquisite meta, but in very very different ways. <3

(If this show is not renewed it’ll be the biggest waste since Firefly, just sayin’.)

This post contains no spoilers beyond episode 7 and PLEASE DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS. Thank you. <3

... head over to [personal profile] promethia_tenk's and read about alllll the symbolism and how it hangs together and how Bill fits into all of it.

Spoilers up to (and including) The Pyramid at the End of the World, as well as the next time trailer:

I have written posts up to and including episode 6. No spoilers.

This one was close to home.

I've had this open in a tab for a few days now:

BBC: Election Lexicon: Robin Hood tax, cockroaches and Heineken politician
(Mostly linked because it said we should have listened to Doctor Who. No, not the recent episode (we can only wish), but about cybermen. Although what with the 'Robin Hood tax' there could be a bit of a nod...)

Of course, our news is nothing compared to America:

WaPo: Sinkhole forms in front of Mar-a-Lago; metaphors pour in

Still, I wish our news would pay more attention to the environment. And how ~Strong and Stable Leadership~ also seems to equal screwing over said environment.

Please vote. It could help save the planet.

Why Mummy Drinks: Daddy the Gadget Twat decrees a programme of re-education is in order for Mummy.

There will probably be words.

But oh, that was... ALL THE THINGS!

So, last week Promethia wrote about Knock Knock, which was great.

This week... Well, I've been trying to slowly re-boot my brain. This weekend is the first one where we've not been busy since - I'm not even sure. Anyway, it's not rebooted enough to actually write anything. I've been talking about it with Promethia, but since her brain is working, and mine is not, these are her thoughts. Roughly edited into different subjects areas.

Although TONIGHT I shall be sat in front of the TV, watching in real time and hopefully being able to flail shortly afterwards. :)

Anyway, what is under the cut is ALLLLL [personal profile] promethia_tenk. (Times like these it is VERY HANDY to hare your brain with someone else...)

Here be spoilers )

Via my flist. I'm unsure how accurate it might be, but I thought I'd pass it on just in case:

"If you are staying on LJ, and its revised ToS make you uncomfortable, there is an escape clause. Paid users remain customers of the California company, which makes you exempt from all the Russian bits. All the US laws regarding freedom of speech, privacy (what we have left, anyway), protection for transformative works (i.e. fanwork), etc. would still stand and apply to you, as long you pay for it. (Financially, that is. Not any kind of metaphor.) If you're otherwise at-risk, and are financially able, this may be a prudent option."

General election 2017: Labour's draft manifesto at-a-glance

I get that some people don't like Corbyn. However this is very much like the US election - please vote strategically to STOP the right wing privatising the NHS, punishing the poor etc. People 'voting their conscience' helped Trump win...

(And yes, I am genuinely frightened at what Ms May will do to this country if she get the mandate she wants. The only positive is that Britain might become a cautionary tale helping to make the rest of the EU stronger, but I don't particularly *want* to live in a cautionary tale.)

Thank you France.

This has been a very very busy weekend and after watching 'Knock Knock' this was pretty much my only thought:

Thankfully the other half of my brain, the always brilliant [personal profile] promethia_tenk, HAS WRITTEN A POST, which talks about All The Things. :D :D :D

Go & read. I doubt I'll be 'writing' anything more than what's under the cut.

(My parents have been visiting for the past two weeks. They left this morning. Next weekend it's my sister-in-law's wedding. So yeah, RL eating me alive.)

elisi: (Default)
Well, my immediate reaction was pure delight. But as I started writing down all my thoughts, I realised I would have to split them up, as they were veering in two very different directions. So, first up comes the serious post. Because the show did one of the things I was most hoping for: It got political. And how!

Thin Ice Review Part 1 (the serious part) )
