BBC: Thousands of gay men pardoned for past convictions
Rights campaigner Peter Tatchell said the pardon was an "important, valuable advance that will remedy the grave injustices suffered by many of the estimated 50,000 to 100,000 men who were convicted under discriminatory anti-gay laws".

But he said it was "unclear" whether only the relatives of a deceased man could apply for a pardon on their behalf.

"Many convicted men were rejected and disowned by their families," he said.

"The government should make it clear that any concerned person, including personal friends, can apply for a pardon for a deceased person."

Shared b/c Yvette Cooper's contribution.

Also, I still have that petition open in a tab. It makes me happy to see the numbers go up.

Although as someone pointed out, they should let Trump meet Prince Charles, just for the sake of talking climate change!!

It's nice to watch the signatures on that petition continue to pile up. :)

I suppose simply pardoning everyone convicted by unjust laws, whether anyone applies for it or not, would be too much to ask?

I'm guessing that in a conservative country that values personal freedom to choose, the government doesn't want to take away people's inalienable RIGHT to stay convicted of outdated crimes if that's what they want. :/

I love how there are still people yelling "We're leaving, get over it" on that article even when faced with the facts.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that people are still burying their heads in the sand over being lied to and being given a raw deal.

Oh me too! And he should have to sit in a room and explain to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge his remarks about wanting to see naked pictures of her - and also his comment a short time after William's mother's death that he could have had sex with her if he had wanted to. Preferably a room with full TV coverage...

I have the chrome extension. It's a little glitchy. It reads the captions, it doesn't identify who's in the pics. So for ex, if it says "Trump protests unite all women" and the photo is of the women protesting, you're gonna see kittens and not the protest. I still like it though.

There's also one that turns his name into Drumpf or Dump, whichever you prefer. I do like that one a lot! It works.

Love that petition - even though it sadly looks like it won't come to anything. But, yeah, I like the idea of Drumpf having to listen to Prince Charles talk about climate change.

That story about protests making a difference was wonderful. Glad that they can see we're not all like that orange menace.

Good to see Drumpf keeping up his history of being sued left and right.

That Ellen explanation was awesome

Definitely getting that kitten thing. I can't stand seeing that disgusting face of his. Though I might miss the hilarious pics of his alien hair doing weird things.

And if/when he comes, there'll be a LOT of demonstrations. >:)

Viva the resistance! :)

love it. Out of all the badness, there is some hope.

Got to cling to that hope.

And today he's been ordered to pay back 6 million dollars I believe (that he swindled people out of).

So qualified for president. *rolls eyes*

:) Thanks! It fits my mood a good portion of the day lately.

Ugh, some of the idiots in that article sound the same as some of our coward Republicans.
